7 Most Gut Wrenching Movie Moments That Will Bring out Your Inner Romantic ...

I am a sap, through and through, so I both love and hate gut wrenching movie moments. Nothing is better/ worse than watching gut wrenching movie moments and having a really good cry. So, without further ado, these are the movie moments that made my heart drop into my stomach, my eyes to water and my idea of what a good man is to get a little more unrealistic! Be warned, there are some spoilers in in the list that follows!

Captain Wentworth's Letter, PERSUASION

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

This takes the cake for gut wrenching movie moments. What makes you feel more than a woman, running through a city, reading a letter from the man she's been hopelessly in love with for eight years that she thought she had lost forever? The letter really picks up after he says "I am half agony and half hope," or at least I think it does, because that's when I really start to get goosebumps.

2

The Tattoo Scene, the Fountain

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

This is three different stories, in three different times that are all terribly sad. But, the saddest moment of the whole movie happens in the present time line. Hugh Jackman plays a scientist whose wife is dying of the same cancer he's studying. He spends so much time trying to get more time with her that he's missing out on the time that he actually has left. There is a scene where (spoilers ahead) his wife passes and he is staring at this fountain pen set that she bought him and he throws it to the floor. Afterwards, he looks down at his hand, realizes that his wedding ring that he lost earlier in the movie is still missing, and decides to tattoo a band onto himself with the fountain pen. By the time he starts crying, I've been crying for 15 minutes.

Alex Shows up at Gigi's Door, He's Just Not That into You

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

I love Alex and Gigi, she's so... cliche and he's so honest. When he shows up at her door and she quotes him, I get the chills. When she tells him that she might like his friend because he calls and shows up and there isn't any drama, and Alex starts saying that he can do all that stuff and you can tell he's getting desperate, I feel my heart start to speed up like he's at my door. And then the kiss happens, and he says that she's his exception, I honestly cry like a little baby. That scene is how you do a rom-com right.

4

Mr. Thornton's Proposal, North & South

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

Mr. Thornton and Ms. Hale just cannot seem to understand each other at all in this scene, it's almost argumentative. And then, when Mr. Thornton starts to talk about his feelings and she cuts him off, I actually hurt for him. But the worst part is after she rejects him, he says how hard it must be for her to have to reject so many men that offer her their hearts. It gets me every time. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

5

Mr. Darcy's Second Proposal, Pride and Prejudice

On iTunes: itunes.apple.com

First, I have to say that I would be happy to see Matthew Macfadyen walking towards me in an open robe like that any day. Second, this scene is so sweet it makes my teeth hurt. When he starts to propose and stutters "I love, I love, I love you," I actually cry every time.

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

Dakota and Jonah in the Bowling Alley, Dakota Skye

On Netflix: movies.netflix.com

I have never seen a scene in which someone says "I love you," and the other person completely rips out their heart and feeds it to him. Jonah says "I love you" and because Dakota can't tell when he's lying, she doesn't trust that he's telling the truth. The whole scene is wrought with tension and Jonah is just so dejected, it breaks my heart a little.

7

Jane and Rochester on Their "Wedding Night," Jane Eyre

On Amazon: amazon.co.uk

I love this version of Jane Eyre because it's so much longer, we have more time to see certain scenes. For instance, the scene after what would have been Jane and Rochester's wedding night where he is literally begging for her to stay with him even if it means living as brother and sister. His begging would be enough to make me buckle, and that is why this is such a gut wrenching movie moment.

Well ladies, these are the scenes that make my heart clench and my inner romantic come roaring out. What movies bring out your inner romantic? Let me know down below!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Oh my gosh Pride & Predjudice. I would watch it on repeat. <3!!!!

I love Persuasion, but the book beats the film adaptations, hands-down, every time!

This is AWESOME!! Alex and Gigi\'s Kiss scene ALWAYS makes me cry, and I think it\'s not necessary to add any comments on that scene between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy...it is MAGICAL!!! I know that all these stories are like fairy tales, but like these girls, I hope I find the right guy for me one day....I hope I\'ll find the one...soon...

Though she\'s not a guy . . . :P

The moment that gets me ever time during Titanic is when Rose jumps back on the ship and runs towards Jack while he\'s running towards her. Then when he asks her why she did that, she quotes him, saying \"you jump I jump, remember?\"

Mine would be from \"sense and sensibility\" with emma thompson and hugh grant. The scene for me would be when edward told elinor that he is not married and elinor just burst forth all the emotion she bottled up.

I love the He\'s Just Not That Into You scene (especially with the music playing throughout, perfection) Of course I think Love Actually has some of the most romantic scenes. The \"To me you are perfect\" scene in particular is beautiful.
