Austenland

This is one of the most spectacular underrated movies I can think of! It truly is a gem, and if you haven’t watched it, you really ought to. It’s classy and hilarious, with an overall lighthearted vibe. When it ends, you’ll want to watch it all over again - it’s that good!

Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You

On a rainy day when you’re all cooped up inside, this is definitely a movie you’ll want to watch. It’s deep, insightful, and interesting. There’s no major plot twists or special effects that would make this film a blockbuster, but the storyline and character development are flawless! You’ll fall in love with the complex characters as the movie progresses and you'll enjoy this underrated film!

3

Stuck in Love

Stuck in Love is another underrated movie with an incredibly talented cast. Little Miss Sunshine’s Greg Kinnear and academy award winning actress Jennifer Connelly are the parents in a dysfunctional family, the Borgens. The movie offers a glimpse at one year in the fascinating family’s life, spanning from one Thanksgiving to the next. And all that happens within that year will keep you on the edge of your seat, and have you dying for more by the end!

4

Across the Universe

My all time favorite underrated film would have to be Across the Universe. This musical with a talented cast and incredible plot has it all! If the fact that it’s based on numerous Beatle’s songs doesn’t hook you, consider the fact that it’s set in 1960’s New York and deals with countless social and political conflicts of the time. The characters weave a beautiful story that will have you singing before the final credits!

5

Timer

This science fiction movie is quirky and refreshing, but most of all underrated! It should have received more credit for the innovative plot and stellar acting, but remains relatively undiscovered in the world of movies. Timer depicts a world in which everyone has the option of getting a clock that counts down to the moment when they’ll meet their soul mate. But it’s never that simple, is it?

Miss Annie Rooney

If you’re a fan of classics like me, you’ll love Miss Annie Rooney! One of the immortalized Shirley Temple’s less highly acclaimed works, Miss Annie Rooney features a teenage Shirley Temple in the movie where she received her first on-screen kiss! When a poor girl falls in love with a rich boy, the movie takes an unexpected turn, with behind-the-times parents threatening to ruin everything at every turn! This underrated movie is innocent, charming, and delightful - perfect for a rainy day in!

Life in a Day

Any documentary enthusiast ought to watch Life in a Day. If you think documentaries are a total bore, you better think again! Life in a Day details the days of everyday people around the globe. You’re bound to find stories that interest you, comfort you, surprise you or relate to you in this artful and insightful documentary.

There you have it! Seven totally underrated movies to enjoy on a rainy day. Which movies are you looking forward to watching? What favorite movies would you add to this list?

Definitely going watch them when I'm cooped inside

Im glad you include Across the Universe. It's one of my favorite movie & yes you're right, it's underrated.

Write a comment ...'Made In Heaven', starring Timothy Hutton & Kelly McGillis! Very under-rated, much less noticed but a beautiful story about love, soulmates & destiny. I know this movie has gotten to be well-known, due to it now being played frequently due to Christmas being the underlying theme but when it 1st came out, I found many people hadn't heard of 'Love Actually'. I haven't heard of any of the movies mentioned so sending all of you huge thanx; I can't wait to watch all of your recommendations!

Across the Universe and Austenland my favorite!!! The movie is so good!!! Hmmm a few movies trigger my interest.

Timer looks really good

We absolutely love Across the Universe! We have found, when recommending it to others that it's a bit of a Marmite film but we can't get enough of it. I've been meaning to see Austenland but had forgotten, I'll definitely be on the lookout for the others!
