7 Sensational Actors with Terrible TV Beginnings ...

We all have to start somewhere – agreed? Even megastars and A-listers need a break. Some stars had any number of jobs before they took up acting. Others hear the call at a tender age and find their way onto a TV show or into a movie. Not everyone – in fact, there are very few – finds instant stardom. Many actors have plenty of duds on their resume before they find their breakout role. Let’s see if you remember any of these questionable beginnings.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence The Hunger Games star didn't have a very impressive start as a TV artist on 'The Bill Engvall Show.' She served two seasons in a show that took no skills to write, had a weak plot, and was boring as all hell. With such a terrible beginning, who could have thought back then that the girl's next stop would be the Academy Awards?

2

Jim Carrey

Jim Carrey Jim Carrey would definitely want all of you to think he started on 'In Living Color,' but he actually started in a 1984 show called 'The Duck Factory.' It was about a young wide-eyed animator of a kid's cartoon and his ambitions. Many think the show was a treat for cartoon fans, but it was considered a shocker by many Jim Carrey fans.

3

Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston Known for his performances in 'Breaking Bad' and movies like Argo, Bryan Cranston wasn't very lucky with his very first appearance on TV. It was in the 1988 CBS show called 'Raising Miranda.' The show wasn't comical at all, and how could it be when everyone in the sitcom would cry and whine all the time? He did manage to find a better path and opportunities to put his real side on display. He even earned back-to-back Primetime Emmy Awards for delivering outstanding performance in the AMC drama series 'Breaking Bad.'

4

Christina Hendricks

Christina Hendricks is another name in the list of actors with terrible TV beginnings. She started it all off with her role in a late-night soap called 'Undressed.' The show ran from 1999-2002 and wasn't the very best of MTV's offerings. It was somewhat crappy, but it did one thing right – it gave the world its first glimpse of this great actress who wowed in 'Mad Men.'

5

Anna Gunn

Anna Gunn The actress, known for her exceptional performance as Skyler White in 'Breaking Bad,' couldn't make a splash with her first TV performance in the 1992 show called 'Down the Shore.' The show was about three guys and three hot female workers renting out a beach house. It was a situation comedy, but it really wasn't the greatest of starts for someone as talented as Anna Gunn.

Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer Aniston Jennifer Aniston was awesome as Rachel Green and Mayim Bialik was awesome in 'Blossom.' And both have successful careers in the movies and on TV today. But before that, they were both in a short-lived 1990 Fox sitcom, 'Molloy.' The show had a cute premise but was overloaded with the usual sitcom jokes about dumb dads, L.A. airheadedness, and bratty siblings.

Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde We now know Olivia Wilde from 'The O.C.,' 'House,' and more recently 'Doll and Em,' but we saw a lot more of her in her first TV gig – a short-lived drama on Fox. Running for just one season and just six episodes, 'Skin' was a Romeo and Juliet-esque teen drama. The warring families were headed by a district attorney and a pornographer. Nice!

No matter how bad these start out programs may have been, they helped make the stars we know and love today, so I guess we can forgive them! ^_^ What other shows can you remember that a future star appeared in?

Interesting

I never heard of any of these shows did they ever air?

Yep! They all aired, albeit briefly, and are now resting in the television boneyard....which is a virtual infinite space lol📺

People forget that when someone is a star usually they had to do horrible TV to get there you learn everyday!

I never heard of these either

The Jim Carrey one was huge in Canada. Everybody who watched TV at the time remembers him in it. It was really good, and he was proud of it.
