Riding in Cars with Boys

Personally, I adore this movie. The story follows Beverly, a pregnant teen played by Drew Barrymore. The film consists of flashbacks to raising her son and how her life unfolded, and her modern day search for her ex-husband in order to publish her memoir. The film has various well-known actors, such as Steve Zahn and Brittany Murphy. I love this film featuring Drew Barrymore because you see her in such a versatile role as she develops because of her experiences.

Music and Lyrics

Music and Lyrics is yet another fabulous film with none-other-than the wonderful Drew Barrymore. Barrymore must help a washed up singer, played by Hugh Grant, write his next hit. It’s the song that’s going to put him back on the charts...or so he hopes. This story molds into romance between the two characters as they work together. It’s definitely a movie I recommend.

3

Ever after: a Cinderella Story

We all know the Cinderella story has been told one too many times, but I enjoy Drew Barrymore’s performance in this adaptation. The premise is that this is the ‘real’ story of Cinderella and the spin on this classic makes it unique. The film had a budget of $26 million and grossed $65.7 million in the United States alone. The positive response to the film just goes to show how great it really is.

4

Olive, the Other Reindeer

I loved this movie when I was kid. Barrymore plays a dog named Olive who knows that she’s “Olive, the other reindeer.” She works her way to the North Pole, eager to help Christmas in any way she can. It’s a great family film, so cuddle up with the kids and check this movie out!

5

E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

I was always scared of this film as a kid. Like, terrified. E.T. was too realistic for me to process as a four-year-old. But Barrymore’s role as the young Gertie is one of her early roles that made her famous. You’ve got to love this girl because she’s been doing it for a while now.

50 First Dates

Lucy Whitmore, aka Barrymore, lost her ability to store short-term memories after an accident years ago. Henry Roth, aka Adam Sandler, isn’t the best when it comes to commitment until he meets Lucy. Something about her makes him want to spend more and more time with her. Problem is, each day she sees him it’s like she’s never met him before. Talk about a tricky relationship!

7

Whip It

Not only does Drew Barrymore perform in this film, she directed it! The film takes place in Texas and tells the story of a roller derby league. Ellen Page stars in this film as she takes to the rink to escape from her small-town and incredibly lame daily life.

Now that you know which Drew Barrymore films to check out, it’s time to cozy on up and watch whatever one you fancy. What is your favorite film featuring Drew Barrymore? Which of these films did you like the most?

If I remember correctly, Drew named her first daughter Olive, I think I saw her say that on The Ellen show! And one movie that should have made the list was Mad Love with Chris O'Donnell. Drew plays a high school senior with bipolar and it's incredible!!!
