None of these will disappoint. There are enough laughs, love and touching moments in these movies to keep the even the most critical viewer happy.

“Footloose”

Before there was the 2011 version of “Footloose”, there was the 1984 version. The storyline is the same but there’s a vintage feel to the movie that’s enjoyable. Kevin Bacon and Lori Singer star as Ren and Ariel. It’s fun to go back and watch this movie after watching the 2011 version. Remakes and classics are always interesting to compare and enjoy.

“Top Gun”

“Top Gun” is an iconic chick flick from the 80s that your guy can enjoy watching too. It premiered in 1986 and captivated audiences. One element of the story is that of the friendship between Maverick who’s a navy pilot and his partner, Goose. There’s also a love story between Maverick and a woman named Charlie who’s his instructor at the elite program of Top Gun. It was a movie that topped the charts both at the box office and in sales.

“Dirty Dancing”

If you want to watch a chick flick heavy on the romance then this is the one for you. “Dirty Dancing” stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the leading roles. The movie was released in 1987 but it’s actually set in 1963. Swayze plays a dance instructor named Johnny who loves a unique style of dancing. Baby, played by Grey, is very intrigued by this style of dancing and wants to learn. As Johnny teaches her, romance begins to bloom.

“Mannequin”

This 1987 movie is unique in that it involves a love story that develops after a man falls in love with a mannequin. Jonathon, played by Andrew McCarthy, has taken a job as a window dresser for a department store. He develops an obsession with a mannequin named Emmy who comes to life when he’s alone. Sales at the department store dramatically increase with Jonathon as an employee. When Emmy falls into danger, Jonathon must save her and his chance at love.

“Three Men and a Baby”

If you want a movie that will give you laughs, this’s the chick flick for you. “Three Men And A Baby” was the biggest box office hit of 1987. It’s hilariously funny to watch how three bachelors cope when they find a baby girl left on their doorstep. They struggle to adapt to fatherhood while they sort out the mess baby Mary has brought them. You’ll love watching Tom Selleck, Ted Danson and Steve Guttenberg cope with fatherhood.

“Look Who’s Talking”

I love to watch this movie whenever I can catch it on. “Look Who’s Talking” hit the screen in 1989. James and Mollie are an unconventional couple whose unusual romance began when he was the taxi driver that drove her to the hospital when she was in labor. Baby Mikey shares his comical and insightful perspective through the voice of Bruce Willis. This movie is a lot of fun to watch.

“Steel Magnolias”

This may be the queen of all chick flicks. Premiering in 1989, this movie stole hearts as it captured the bonds of family and friendships of a special group of southern women. It has a star studded cast including Dolly Parton, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, Sally Field and many more. Their adventures and heart wrenching experiences will make you both laugh and cry. This movie has been nominated for many awards and won several.

Seen all of these and loved them. Also Grease is a great one. It was made in '78 but still a good "chick flick"
