9 Harry Potter Characters That Should Have Been in the Movies ...

There were so many brilliant Harry Potter characters that I was looking forward to seeing on the big screen. Unfortunately, they left out quite a few of the most colorful, if fairly minor characters, and people who enjoyed the movies but have never read the books will probably never even have heard of them. This makes me feel quite sad for them – they’re missing out! Here are 9 Harry Potter characters that I think should have made the movies.

1

Peeves

Of all the Harry Potter characters left out of the movies, many fans lamented the non-appearance of Peeves the most. The highly irritating poltergeist may have terrorized the students, but he terrorized Filch too (resulting in hilarious levels of mayhem). He was also responsible for some brilliant rhymes and taunts. “His eyes are as green as a fresh pickled toad…”

2

Winky

Dobby proved to be such a popular character and it’s a real shame that they left out the only female house elf that really features in the books. She played a pivotal role in the fourth book, and I really did want to see a drunk house elf.

3

Professor Binns

Probably left out because he is, in terms of personality, the most boring of all the Harry Potter characters (but I can let him off for being dead), Binns deserved at least a brief appearance in the second film when he succeeds in holding the attention of a class for both the first and last time ever.

4

Charlie Weasley

Poor Charlie is the only member of the Weasley family who doesn’t feature in the movies. He’s briefly mentioned as being the one who trains dragons and his face pops up in a holiday snap of the family in Egypt, but a man who never marries because he prefers dragons to women is worth seeing.

5

Blast-Ended Skrewts

Many of the creatures from Care of Magical Creatures class and the labyrinth (where was the sphinx?) are left out of the movies, but these horrible creatures that Hagrid forces the students to raise turn into gigantic, cannibalistic monsters that would be terrifying on the big screen.

6

Augusta Longbottom

Neville’s terrifying grandmother has a wacky dress sense for one, but is worth including because of the way she goes from being disappointed in to intensely proud of her grandson over the years.

7

Frank and Alice Longbottom

They get a brief mention, but in the books we actually meet Neville’s institutionalized parents at St. Mungo’s. Apparently the scenes were shot for the film, but sadly just didn’t make the cut. It’s probably a good thing, because I may have cried.

8

Ludo Bagman

Bagman was integral to many aspects of the Goblet of Fire book, and was such a buoyant character that he would have been great on screen. Not to mention the fact that it’s brilliant when the goblins catch up with him for his gambling debts.

9

The Gaunts

Merope, Morfin and Marvolo Gaunt were Voldemort’s mother, uncle and grandfather. The men may have been vile, but they communicated entirely in Parseltongue and Marvolo was murdered by Voldemort for Slytherin’s locket, so they were well worth including.

There are many other Harry Potter characters that should have been in the movies too, but these are the ones that I feel are most important. Everyone probably has very different favorites, so who would you really have liked to see on the big screen?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

The centaurs would have been nice, especially because they helped in the final battle

I agree, especially with peeves and winky. Winky because it then would have made Dobby be in the films more like he is in the books and it probably would have made S.P.E.W be mentioned

Ron's owl!

Peeves!!

I am for peeves too! Apparently, they had him in one of the movies but was edited out in the end. :(

Peeves, Winky, Everyone that wasn't included......

What about Pidgwidon?! I have an owl tattoo named Pig for him! Ron's owl is by far my favorite character in the books

You see pidgwidon once in the movie
