7 Most Memorable Speeches from Grey's Anatomy ...

By Leeann

There have been a whole lot of speeches from Grey’s Anatomy in its past 10 seasons, and many of them still stick out in my head. I don’t have to recount reasons why Grey’s is such an awesome show, but I think one of the things that makes them awesome are the incredible speeches given by these incredible actors! So here’s a list (in no particular order might I add) of 7 most memorable speeches from Grey’s Anatomy.

Season 5, Episode 23 – Here’s to Future Days

Some may not count this as one of the best speeches from Grey’s Anatomy, because it’s really only several sentences long. But the delivery, the impact of the words, is all spot on. This speech was a voiceover given by Meredith in the final episode of this season: Did you say it? 'I love you. I don't ever want to live without you. You changed my life.' Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it, but every now and then, look around; Drink it in 'cause this is it. It might all be gone tomorrow. It’s a quote that’s stayed with me until this day.

Season 4, Episode 8 – Forever Young

This is one of my favourite scenes, mostly because we don’t get to see a lot of Bailey’s vulnerable side, but also because I think it’s so, so relatable. The band geek and the hot popular guy is a great stereotype to knock down, and the reason I think this is one of the best speeches from Grey’s Anatomy is because it reminds us just how far we’ve come from our old days, and that you can never judge a book by its cover. We all grow up, we all find our place, believe that and you’ll be okay.

Season 8, Episode 22 – Let the Bad Times Roll

I miss Mark and Lexi. They were the one couple that I really, really rooted for. Then of course Shonda had to go and kill them both off – THANK YOU SHONDA – but I digress. She also gifted us with this beautiful speech from Lexi, that I think is one of the most well acted and powerful speeches from Grey’s Anatomy that I’ve ever heard. We don’t hear it enough – when you love someone, tell them. But here, you can see it all on her face; the nerves, the relief, the happiness; it’s all there. That’s an exhilarating feeling isn’t it?

Season 6, Episode 5 – Invasion

This is hands down, one of my most favourite speeches from Grey’s Anatomy ever, even still to this day, 4 seasons later. This is why I love Grey’s, because they’re not afraid to go to a different place and tell it like it is. It focuses on what we should all focus on in our day-to-day lives. This is probably the one scene that made me fall in love with Arizona, and the acting was utterly flawless. This speech taught us about tolerance, about people, but mostly, it showed us the grace that comes with being honest, genuine, and compassionate. That’s what makes me love this scene every time I watch it.

UPD:

The episode "Invasion" from season 6 of Grey's Anatomy features a speech from character Arizona Robbins that has been remembered and cherished by fans of the show. Arizona's speech focuses on the importance of tolerance and compassion, and the grace that comes with being honest and genuine. It is considered to be one of the most memorable speeches in the show's history, and it helped to make Arizona a fan favorite. The acting in the scene is also praised for its realistic and emotional portrayal of the message. This speech has become a source of inspiration for viewers, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of understanding and acceptance.

Season 1, Episode 4 – No Man’s Land

I’ve always been on the fence about Izzie. I like her, but I never came around to loving her, and the problem here was that I really wanted to! In this scene however, I really did love her character. It’s one of the best speeches from Grey’s Anatomy and it’s from the very first season they were on air! This show does a fantastic job of creating complex characters, and this added to who Izzie was as a person, and showed us all how to be strong in the face of bullies. She stood up for herself, and in the end, it was Alex who was humiliated, not her. That ladies, is pretty kick ass.

Season 5, Episode 7 – Rise up

Christina is probably one of the most loved characters on the show, but you have to have watched her from beginning to end in order to really feel that way. I think this is one of the best speeches from Grey’s Anatomy because it shows us a different side of her, but for the truest fans, it's a side we always knew was there. For all her hardcore-ness and the times when people may think she’s just in it for the surgeries, this scene is guaranteed to have changed that. Plus the acting is just flawless.

Season 5, Episode 2 – What a Difference a Day Makes

This speech isn’t even given by one of the series’ regulars, but it is a heck of a monologue. In one of the best speeches from Grey’s Anatomy, we hear the graduation speech of a class Valedictorian. She talks about accountability, to herself, to the world, to the future, to be accountable to life and give it everything she’s got. Back dropped against a horrific accident where she loses half her classmates, we see just how precious life is, and how we need to step up, and take action. It’s inspiring.

I could go on, and on with how many wonderful speeches Grey’s has graced us with, because there’s so many! Each one of these characters inspires us in some way, and they’ve all said things to us that really resonate with us. So tell me, what are some of your favourite speeches from Grey’s?

Best show ever!! These quotes are all so memorable! Definitely made me tear when I watch them!

When McDreamy proposed to Mer

Dr. McSteamy said it best! Not sure when he said it. He wasn't with Lexie it was the other skinny doctor! "I am not taking you to dinner, I will take you to lunch. Saturday afternoon in broad daylight. We'll eat at a public place and maybe, take a walk on a crowded street. We'll get to know each other. See if we have an interest in the same kind of future. Because I want to build a life and a family and I'm not wasting my time on someone who doesn't share that interest. I'll pick you up at noon." Sigh! Imagine a man actually saying that to you?! Delicious!!! ❤️
