"Orphan Black" is a show on BBC America that everyone needs to be watching. There are so many reasons why this show should be taking up any of your time, but we can only cover a few here. If you've never heard of it, then after you read this you better go check it out! Here are some reasons why you need to be watching "Orphan Black."
1. Tatiana Maslany
Talk about talent! Tatiana doesn't just play one character on "Orphan Black," she plays seven different roles. She does each accent and personality flawlessly! Every time a new character is introduced you get excited to see how she portrays this one. It's not like she plays seven very similar characters that are all American or all British, she plays seven very different character and it's amazing
The show is about a cloning conspiracy when it comes down to it. Imagine waking up one morning and seeing someone with your exact face, but it doesn't stop there. Now imagine that when you track that person down, you find several more people with your face. How freaked out would you be? Well, that's what happens to Sarah Manning. She finds out that she's a clone and now she wants to know more. It's a really interesting and exciting concept.
If you're going to make a show like this it has to be done right. This means it can't be too funny, but really if it's too serious it could get dull. "Orphan Black" has the perfect balance. There are some very funny parts of this show because of how different all of the characters are. For the most part everyone sort of clashes, but somehow they make it work. There are a few characters that are just funny people, but there's a lot of sarcasm and wit in the show too, that leads to a good laugh.
Felix is one of the funny characters. He has a real purpose to the show other than jokes, but in general he is a really funny character. Felix is Sarah Manning's brother and she confides in him everything about the clones. He is a huge part of her life and kind of becomes a part of the other clones' lives as well. He's definitely one of my favorite characters and the same can be said for a large part of the fan base.
"Orphan Black" is a really suspenseful show. Since there are a lot of twists and turns, you never really know what's going to happen next and that tends to leave you on the edge of your seat. Characters are put into dangerous situations multiple times and secrets are always on the verge of being found out. The suspense in the show keeps you interested and keeps you watching!
6. Fast Paced
Much like the suspense factor, the show being fast paced keeps you interested. It's not hard to follow, but the story line does move relatively quickly. There is rarely a dull moment where you find yourself bored and waiting for new information. This is the kind of show where not paying attention could get you in some trouble. It's quick but interesting, and in the end you wish you had more to watch.
7. Realistic Sci-fi
This is technically a sci-fi show, but it doesn't involve space, magic, or creatures. That makes this show more realistic than most sci-fi, which is really cool to watch. When you're watching "Orphan Black" you don't feel like you're watching another world or anything like that. Everything that happens and everybody in it are realistic to the point where you feel like this could be happening to people around you and you'd never even know it.
"Orphan Black" is a really cool show that not enough people seem to know about. Why do you like Orphan Black? Do you disagree with anything on this list?
