Although there hasn't been many details out just yet (John Green's keeping it all hush hush), there are definitely a few things you need to know about the Paper Towns movie. After John's major success with the movie adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars, I'm super excited to see how this turns out. Paper Towns is one of my favorite novels and it's always such a treat to see a favorite novel come to life on the big screen! Here are some things you need to know about the Paper Towns movie:
1 The Lead Stars
The Fault In Our Stars' Nat Wolff has reunited with John Green but this time, he's playing the lead! Nat will star as Quentin Jacobsen, which I think is a role he's perfect for. As for Margo, the novel's leading lady, supermodel Cara Delevingne will be taking on the role. I'll admit, I was a bit iffy about that cast choice but Green has done a great job at reassuring Paper Towns fans that Cara will do a magnificent job. This is just one of the many things you need to know about the Paper Towns movie!
Jake Schreier, who directed Robot and Frank, is directing the movie! "He is a good man whose full name is just a scrabble dream come true," John wrote on his Tumblr page. "Wyck Godfrey, Marty Brown, and Isaac Klausner are producing," he added. "They also produced The Fault In Our Stars. The screenplay was written by Weber and Neustadter, who wrote The Fault In Our Stars, The Spectacular Now, and many other great movies." Clearly, Paper Town's in very good hands.
3 The Cast Has Already Bonded
I love when casts have a strong off-set bond because it only makes their on-screen chemistry that much better. Nat and Cara have been spending lots of time together since filming has already started and the two seem to be getting along really well! Cara even posted a photo of the two hanging out in disguises. John also loves to tweet about the adorable cast friendships. He tweeted, "update: it is very cold and the cast are cuddling for warmth. It is very cute."
4 John Green Cameo?
A lot of authors tend to pop up in their novel's movie adaptation (i.e: Stephanie Meyer in Twilight, Kathryn Stockett in The Help, etc.) so it was only right that John made a cameo in The Fault In Our Stars. Unfortunately, the scene got cut from the movie so we never got the chance to see him on camera! When a fan asked if he'd appear in Paper Towns, he wrote, "I don't know, but if I do, it will probably be cut from the movie per tradition."
5 John Green's Set Distractions
Movie making is hard stuff! How does John like to unwind? By listening to Taylor Swift's latest album, of course! "I'm in Paper Towns movie meetings all day and they think I'm making notes on the script but I'm actually listening to 1989," he wrote on his Tumblr page. I get it, John, Taylor time is always better than work time.
6 Film Location
Although the novel is mostly set in Florida, the movie is being shot in North Carolina. If you follow the cast on Twitter, they've all been posting cool on-location photos!
7 The Release Date
Yup, the movie already has a release date! It's out July 31st, 2015.That means you have until then to read the novel for the first time or for the fiftieth.
Well, there you have it. These are just seven little details that's out about the "Paper Towns" movie! I'm sure more details will be released soon and I can't wait. Are you excited for the film?
