7 Hilarious Lesser-Known Television Shows Worth Giving a Chance ...

By Teresa

I love finding lesser-known television shows to watch. In fact, I often find that I love lesser-known television shows more than some of the critically acclaimed shows I watch. For example, Playing House is one of my favorite finds this year, but it was unfortunately snubbed in the Emmy nominations. If you’re like me and love shows that no one knows about yet, this list will quench your thirst for lesser-known television shows!

1. Playing House

If you haven’t watched this show yet, you are seriously missing out. Playing House is the female friendship comedy television has been sorely missing, and one of the best lesser-known television shows gracing our televisions today. Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair shine as Maggie and Emma, and you will find yourself laugh-crying at the end of the season.

2. The Mindy Project

Everyone has a little Mindy Lahiri in herself. We can all be a little self-absorbed, superficial, or even simply flighty. Mindy Lahiri is all of those things and more, but more than that, she’s hilarious. If you’re looking for a good laugh, look no further than The Mindy Project.

3. Melissa and Joey

Melissa and Joey is easily one of my favorite sitcoms on ABC Family. However, when you tell people it’s on ABC Family, they scoff at you. Believe me, you need to give this show a chance. Try binge-watching it on Netflix, and you will be hooked. Every character is ridiculous, the situations are hilarious, and the entire show is simply heart-warming.

4. A to Z

You’ve probably yet to hear of A to Z. A to Z is a comedy coming to NBC this fall, starring Cristin Millioti of How I Met Your Mother fame (she is The Mother) as well as Ben Feldman. Rashida Jones is behind the series, and I’ve recently heard it described as “what the last season of How I Met Your Mother should’ve looked like,” so it sounds pretty promising. The trailer alone is enough to have me hooked!

Embrace the power of cinematic storytelling by enjoying films with simple yet captivating names. Explore this curated list of fascinating one word movie titles, designed especially for women who value compelling narratives and thought-provoking themes. These titles offer a fresh perspective on femininity and the nuances of womanhood, allowing you to embark on memorable viewing experiences from the comfort of your home.

5. What I like about You

What I Like About You is another show that often leads people to scoff at you when you mention that you like it. If you don’t remember What I Like About You, it starred Amanda Bynes, pre-crazy, and Jennie Garth. Together, they bring laughs and genuine moments, making a great sitcom, despite its quieter success!

6. Girl Meets World

Yes, the Girl Meets World pilot got a lot of flack and criticism. Even though I had high hopes for the show, I agree with most of the criticism. However, I didn’t give up on the show, and I’m glad that I didn’t. I’ve seen a few episodes ahead and have been extremely impressed by it. The writing is better, the jokes are funnier, and the acting is improved. Yes, it’s a kids’ show, but I’m glad I gave it time to improve, because I’m very impressed with the direction it’s going, kids’ show or not!

7. Baby Daddy

If you haven’t stumbled into a Netflix binge-watch of Baby Daddy yet, I’m not sure what planet you’re living on. Baby Daddy is another one of the best sitcoms on ABC Family, worth checking out, if not for the jokes, then for the intriguing love triangle between Riley and the Wheeler brothers!

What’s a lesser-known sitcom I should be watching? Do you watch any of these? Let me know what you think I should watch in the comments!
