Halloween is over and Christmas is coming, but you're in between so you're probably looking for movies to watch in November. Some of us are already playing Christmas songs in the house and in the car. However, in my case, I like to wait on Christmas until late November. If you are like me, you still want to celebrate the big holidays until New Year's. I enjoy Thanksgiving, but it doesn’t have the same build-up as Halloween and Christmas. It is just a day to pig out on awesome food with family and friends. But a good way to celebrate while transitioning to Christmas through Thanksgiving is by watching movies.
There are many Halloween and Christmas movies out there. But what about Thanksgiving movies? Sadly, not many. However, after looking through a list of my favorite movies, I found ones that are perfect through the month of November as we grieve for Halloween and wait for Christmas. This list consists only of films I’ve seen. If there is one not listed that you think should be, please mention it in the comment section. So, here are the best movies to watch in November.
Edward Scissorhands is an analogy of the Frankenstein monster, but celebrating Christmas with the family that took him in is part of the movie too. This is one of my favorite movies to watch in November.
The Nightmare Before Christmas has Halloween characters who take over Christmas, making it a great choice for the month between the two holidays.
Krampus is a horror comedy movie set during Christmas. You can hold on to Halloween a little big longer and get in the Christmas spirit at the same time.
Silver Linings Playbook is a quirky dramedy that involves family, which goes well with Thanksgiving.
Mean Girls is just a fun comedy to watch so you might as well add it here when you're lacking Thanksgiving themed movies.
This movie is just a great one for getting you into the winter spirit.
You're going to see several snow days around Thanksgiving, so this one is just weather appropriate.
If you have kids, this is the perfect movie to entertain them with while you wait for the Christmas movie lineup to start.
This movie will get you excited for some snow.
Meet the Parents is a hilarious film about a man meeting his girlfriend’s family, which could be happening for you this Thanksgiving.
The Blind Side has a great message about family as it contains a short Thanksgiving scene with a simple lesson that everyone should learn
Cheaper By The Dozen, the one with Steve Martin, is another great family themed movie with a little Christmas spirit at the end.
This is the only movie in the list that is about Thanksgiving. We have Charlie Brown films for Halloween and Christmas, so should have one for Thanksgiving as well.
The film takes place between Christmas and New Year's, but is still is a great holiday flick about a woman living life to its fullest.
Grumpy Old Men is more about friendship than family but is still touching and comical for Thanksgiving.
The Family Man is one of Nicolas Cage’s better roles, with the movie paying homage to Christmas - it's sure to get you in the spirit.
The Family Stone is more of a Christmas movie than any of the other films in the list, which is why it is last. It is a good family flick to end Thanksgiving with and to begin playing Jingle Bells on your way to work. After watching it, you can start watching your favorite Christmas movies.
