There are plenty of shows to watch with your family, but for some reason there aren’t that many on right now. It was really hard to come up with shows that are currently on TV and are appropriate for a family to watch together. I don’t know why there are so few shows to watch with your family these days, but if you need some ideas, I’m here to help. Here are seven shows to watch with your family.
“Bob’s Burgers” may not seem like the right choice for a list of shows to watch with your family, but surprisingly it definitely belongs here. Everyone from my mother to my nine year old brother gladly sits around on Sunday nights to watch this show. It’s absolutely hilarious! There are a few jokes that could be perceived as inappropriate, but in reality the younger kids won’t catch on to those. I really love this show, I’m sure people will disagree with it being on the list, but my family enjoys it!
It probably seems odd that a Disney channel show is on a list for family shows, but it’s true. This is another one that everyone in my family enjoys. Even though it seems like an odd show for a 22 year old to enjoy, I really can’t get enough of it. “Gravity Falls” is a strange show, but there’s something about it that is appealing to people of all ages. I wish I could put my finger on it, but there’s something that sucks the viewers in. I think that it’s the character Mabel, because she is so hilarious that you can’t help but love her.
“Full House” is a great '90s show that is perfect to watch with your family. What’s great about this show is that it found a way to balance the family dynamic, comedy, drama, and real problems that you go through at different stages in life. I think that’s why it is such a great family show, because it’s something that a lot of people can relate to. I know that there are people that find this show to be really cheesy and I don’t blame them, but nevertheless it’s really great to watch with your kids no matter their age.
Another show that seems weirdly placed on this list, but I know a lot of people my age who love to watch “Phineas and Ferb.” My mother likes to say that it’s like a new “Rugrats” and I’d have to agree with her. The only difference is that instead of growing out of this show, like with “Rugrats,” people of all ages can enjoy it. I find myself choosing to put on “Phineas and Ferb” to watch with my mother and brother. It may seem weird, but there’s something about it that I really love.
Who doesn’t love “Modern Family"?! It’s been a hit right from the start and it’s not hard to see why. “Modern Family” is one of the funniest shows on TV right now and it’s great to watch with your family. What’s great about this show is that, because there are kids in it dealing with problems that kids have to face these days, the children in your family will be able to enjoy their parts as well as the rest of the hilarity. Also, parents will get to enjoy the hilarious children. I think what makes this show work is that the writers get a lot of the ideas from their own experiences, so it is easily relatable.
I never really got into this show because I avoid most competition shows, but I couldn’t help but watch a few episodes. My whole family loves it! What is so enjoyable about watching people fall on their face?! I may never know the answer to that question, but I will be able to say that whatever the reasoning is, it works. Your whole family can gather around and laugh while these people compete against each other. It may seem cruel to laugh at people fail, but that’s the nature of the show and your family is almost guaranteed to love it.
Fairy tales meet action – what’s not to love?! I’m sure there are plenty of people who would disagree with this show being on this list, but it’s really a great family show. What works here is that there are things for every age group. The younger children in your family will get to enjoy the fairy tale aspect, while the older ones can enjoy the action and romance, and I think the older you get, the more you get to enjoy. I know that I personally enjoy every part of the show. That’s what makes a family show so successful: the ability to reach different age groups.
It’s strange that there are three cartoons on this list, but don’t worry, they’re not too childish! I really love all of the shows on this list and I’m sure you and your family will too. Which shows do you disagree with? Which shows do you watch with your family?
