1. The Great Gatsby

This might be one of the most anticipated movies of 2013 and for good reason. With an all star cast consisting of Leonardo DiCaprio, Carrey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire, this is sure to be an incredible movie. The Great Gatsby has always been one of my favorite books and I died when I heard it was going to be a movie. It originally was supposed to premier in winter of 2012 and had to be pushed back until May 10, 2013. And that date cannot come soon enough.

2. Star Trek into Darkness

As a fan of Sherlock, you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Benedict Cumberbatch was cast as the villain in Star Trek Into Darkness. The first Star Trek was incredible and J.J Abrams is, in my opinion, a visual genius. This is sure to be an incredible movie filled with high profile action. And who would be opposed to watching Chris Pine be a badass for an hour and a half.

3. Monsters University

Every single Pixar movie is amazing, and Monsters University will be no exception. While I am sure Pixar intended this to be a movie for little kids, I have no doubt that plenty of 20 year olds, such as myself, will be besides themselves waiting to see it. It will be a wonderful trip down memory lane to watch Mike and Sulley return to the big screen, this time in college.

4. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

And so continues my obsession with Jennifer Lawrence. This is definitely one of the most anticipated movies of 2013 because The Hunger Games is such an incredibly popular series. Even if you have already read the books, I have the feeling that Catching Fire will leave you on the edge of your seat. It is sure to be full of action, suspense, and who can resist the love life of Katniss and Peeta?

5. Despicable Me 2

I could watch an entire movie just filled with those adorable little minions. But I will settle for just another Despicable Me. I am so excited to watch another movie filled with Gru and his adorable little girls. I am not yet sure what the plot will be, but it is sure to be a laugh-your-socks off humor and an all around good time.

6. Anchorman 2: the Legend Continues

I love lamp. Ron Burgundy and his gang are back in action. When I found out they were making an Anchorman sequel, I almost died. I love most Will Ferrell movies and it is bound to be just as amazing as the first one.

7. Ender's Game

So my inner dork is coming out and Ender's Game might be my personal most anticipated movie of 2013. I read the books when I was younger and they are just absolutely fabulous. It tells the story of the a boy genius who is recruited by the military to take on an alien invasion. With Harrison Ford playing a hard core military general, how can you go wrong?

8. The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug

Again, my inner nerd is taking over the list of most anticipated movies of 2013. The only reason I am upset that they split up the book into three movies is because that means I have to wait longer to see Peter Jackson’s brilliance. With Martin Freeman as a Hobbit and Benedict Cumberbatch as a dragon, this is one movie that cannot be missed. And who could forget about Orlando Bloom?
