I adore funny movies, for a variety of reasons. For one thing, I just love to laugh. No matter what kind of mood I'm in or how I feel, laughing at a hilarious movie makes me feel better. A funny movie can deflect a fight, make me forget that I'm sick or tired, and turn a bad day into a good one. Laughter really is the best medicine in a lot of situations. In the spirit of sharing the medicine, as it were, here are some stellar comedies that make you laugh no matter what. At least, they make me laugh, and I sure hope they do the same for you!

1. Animal House
Price: $9.49 at amazon.com
Many of the stellar comedies that make you laugh the hardest end up being classics – like Animal House. Some of John Belushi's greatest moments are immortalized in this film. When you're into campy college flicks, this has to be at the top of your list.
2. Super Troopers
Price: $7.99 at amazon.com
Yeah, what can I say? I love Broken Lizard! I've watched all their movies, but Super Troopers is the only one I can watch over and over again. Jay Chandrasekhar has become one of my favorite actors of all time. The movie is legit ridiculous, but if you're just looking to laugh a lot, well, it definitely gets the job done!

3. Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Price: $11.49 at amazon.com
This might just be my favorite movie in the entire world. It caused me to fall hopelessly in love with Jason Segal, for one thing. Honestly, I'd have his babies in a minute. The comedic chemistry between the entire cast is just incredibly. It's like they hit the zone, where every joke works and every scene is magic. This is one of those stellar comedies that make you laugh that's kind of become a legend in its own time.
4. Waiting ...
Price: $7.99 at amazon.com
I love just about anything Ryan Reynolds stars in, but this is one of my favorites. There are so many funny people in it, from Ryan to Justin Long to Anna Faris, to the kid who plays Sweets in Bones and that guy with the weird mouth … I love it! The sequel was awful, but if you've ever worked in the food industry, this one's for you.
5. The Big Lebowski
Price: $11.99 at amazon.com
This is just … the Dude abides, man. The Dude abides. The combination of Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, and Steve Buscemi, all of whom I adore, is classic, just classic. Plus, you have to add in Philip Seymour Hoffman, John Turturro, and Julianne Moore – and even Tara Reid had her moments. This movie always makes me want to bowl.

6. Dogma
Price: $6.29 at amazon.com
Of all the stellar comedies that make you laugh, Kevin Smith has directed quite a lot of them. He's my favorite director, actually, so I was hard pressed to choose just one. In the end I went with Dogma, because it's funny, but it's also profound. Watch a little deeper and you discover some fundamental truths about religion and tolerance. Go Kevin!
7. Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Price: $6.49 at amazon.com
I love this movie so much. Steve Martin is one of my favorite actors, and although I adore Jude Law, Michael Caine will always be Alfie to me. The twists and turn in this movie about con artists and double dealing never stop until the end. Plus, the locale is absolutely gorgeous. Better still, the way Steve and Michael play off each other nearly puts the original Odd Couple to shame.
8. Caddyshack
Price: $4.99 at amazon.com
Even though I love Bill Murray, I only watched this movie recently. I mean, I'm not the biggest fan of golf, I didn't know how much appeal it would hold. I ended up watching it with my dad when I was visiting my folks and convalescing from a cold. Let's just say I ended up laughing myself sick all over again, shall we?
9. There's Something about Mary
Price: $6.99 at amazon.com
I'm a huge Ben Stiller fan as well, and this movie was just like this crowning glory. It was so weird, yet so sweet, and be bumbles around so beautifully. It made a movie star out of Cameron Diaz, too, so you have to be grateful for that.
There have to be tons more stellar comedies that make you laugh, these are just the ones that really do it for me. There's a whole mix, from the sublime to the ridiculous – what can I say, I have eclectic tastes! But I'm always up for watching something new, so what are some of your favorite comedies ever?
