When someone asks, "What is your favorite action movie and why?" it can be tough to narrow it down! Action movies are my absolute favorite genre to watch because of the non-stop thrill, intense suspense, and pure excitement. There are so many popular movies in action cinema that it is almost impossible to list them all, but I have curated a list of 8 great action movies that are pretty hard to beat! Whether you usually prefer romance or comedy over high-octane blockbusters, you are bound to find a film here to love. Keep on reading and you will see!

1. Die Hard
Die Hard is widely considered one of the best action movies you haven't seen if you are new to classic 80s blockbusters! Bruce Willis is brilliant as John McClane, delivering unforgettable one-liners while taking on a high-rise hostage crisis. 2. Mission Impossible
Who doesn't love Tom Cruise taking on mind-blowing stunts? He is fantastic in Mission Impossible! It is almost impossible to pick just one favorite from all of the Mission Impossible entries, so my suggestion is to watch all of them. And if you've seen them already, watch them again! 3. X-Men
My husband and I went to see X-Men, and boy did I love it! The franchise just keeps getting better and better. I know this is another long-running series, but I can't help it—I'm a sucker for a huge storyline and rich character arcs! If you haven't caught up on the X-Men film series yet, make time to do it soon so you stay in the loop.
4. Captain America
Can I just say "Wow!" Captain America is a huge hit that redefined hero action films! Chris Evans delivers a stellar performance that balances heart, patriotism, and incredible combat choreography. If you haven't seen it already, make time to watch this awesome superhero action movie!
5. Knight and Day
Cameron Diaz is fantastic, but she's even better starring alongside Tom Cruise! I love the cute romantic storyline behind all the fast-paced action. The thrilling chase sequences and fun humor make it one of my favorite action movies to pop in on a weekend night.
6. We Were Soldiers
This list has to have at least one war movie on it! My husband and I both love military action movies because we are deeply patriotic. My great grandfather, grandfather, and father all served in the military, my husband is currently serving, and many of my brothers and cousins have joined up as well. I love studying our country's history, and I fully support our troops. Put this fantastic, emotional movie on your list of action movies to watch—and watch again!
7. 300
300 is an action flick that is a little more bloody and graphic, so use caution if you get squeasy over intense combat scenes. It's an epic movie otherwise! The characters are well played and portrayed, and the storyline holds true to Spartan history. You will be out of your seat and cheering!

8. Gladiator
The first time I ever saw Gladiator, I cried like a baby! It is not your typical action movie with flipping cars and guns, but it has more than enough gladiator arena fighting to be an incredible action film.
