There’s no getting around it, summer blockbusters are pretty hit or miss. These movies, however, as far as I can tell, are sure to be hits. Whether you’re looking for a slapstick comedy, a teenage drama, or a movie produced by Steven Spielberg and Oprah, there are more than a few summer blockbusters on this list that you must check out!
After last year’s disaster that was This Is the End, I was elated to see Seth Rogen come back with a summer blockbuster that wasn’t terrible. With a supporting cast of Rose Byrne, Zac Efron, Dave Franco, and Ike Barinholtz, it was hard for this movie not to be one of this year’s summer blockbusters.
Since this movie came out nearly a month ago, it has been everywhere, and still continues to grow. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’m not sure why, but I’m sure you have a very good excuse. If you don’t have a very good excuse, get to a theatre now and see it. Actually, I take that back. Read the book, and then get to a theatre and see it. It’s a love story of two teenagers with a “touch of cancer” that will leave you heartbroken in the most beautiful way.
After 2012’s hilarious hit “21 Jump Street,” it was hard to believe that Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill wouldn’t get back together for a crazy sequel. It sounds as hysterical and outlandish as the first movie, which if we’re being honest, is rare for a sequel.
I keep hearing amazing things of this movie, yet I’ve seen so little promotion for it that I’m not quite sure if it qualifies as a “summer blockbuster.” Either way, this quiet film about a divorced man trying to get to know his son, no matter the cost, is definitely worth seeing this summer, so start looking for it in a theatre near you!
Unlike Chef, it feels like I see this trailer during every commercial break these days. However, that being said, there’s just something about this trailer that is so much fun. It makes you want to go back to that time. In my opinion, it’s the definition of a summer blockbuster.
I can’t lie, I’ve seen this trailer a bunch of times and I’m still not entirely sure what it’s about. However, with an all-star cast including women like Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon, it’s hard to imagine a world in which this movie will not be hilarious.
I’ve had a not-so-secret love for movies with a strong emphasis on food since Julie and Julia, and it looks like this movie will be no exception in that department. Whether you’re looking for a movie about food, love, or just simply humor, you will find it in this movie.
