7 Kids Movies with a Message ...

There are so many kids movies with a message out there! Children may not get the messages at first, but there are usually adults watching the movies too. The messages can be crystal clear to the adults, let’s just hope they listen to the messages. Let's take a look at seven kids movies with a message!

1 Beauty and the Beast

“Beauty and the Beast “ is an awesome example of kids movies with a message; the message here is not to judge a book by its cover. Belle is a beautiful and smart young girl who sacrifices herself to protect her father. In this movie we see both sides of the story. We see the townspeople that are scared of the beast because they don’t know who he truly is and we also see Belle slowly falling in love with this beast despite what he looks like. The lesson here is that we can’t make up our minds about people without getting to know them.

Frequently asked questions

2 Wall – E

This movie is just so gosh darn cute that it almost makes you ignore the message. The problem is that the message can’t be ignored because it is such an important one. Wall – E teaches us that we need to change the way we live and the way we treat the planet because if we keep going at this rate we’ll end up like the people that had to leave Earth. By the end of the movie, I could have cried (I know I’m a baby) because the message was so amazing and so beautifully portrayed.

3 Mulan

Mulan is so awesome! She is one of the only women in the Disney movies that stands up for herself and decides that she doesn’t need a man to complete her, unlike all of the other women in her town. Mulan goes out to fight for what she believes in and to protect her father. Talk about a girl power message! It doesn’t just talk to girls though, this movie also makes it clear to boys that girls can keep up with them.

4 Shrek

“Shrek,” like “Beauty and the Beast” teaches that it’s ok to be different. Shrek hid from people for most of his life and tried to scare them away, but by the end not only does he have a best friend, he also has someone to love. Not only does this movie tell us that it’s ok to be different like Shrek, but also that we should get to know those people that are different than us because they could turn out to be good friends.

5 The Lorax

Like “Wall – E,” “The Lorax” has a message about the environment. One of the main things that this movie, and the book it’s based on, teaches is that the people in this town have never seen a real tree because they have all been replaced with manufactured fake ones. A little boy sets out to find a real tree to impress a girl he likes and it’s much more difficult than he expected. The line “unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing's going to get better. It's not." is a message to all who are watching whether it be children or adults.

6 Toy Story

“Toy Story” is a movie loved by all ages that sends a message of friendship and loyalty that cannot be ignored. Whether the friendship is between the toys themselves or to their owner, Andy, they prove time and time again that they will do whatever it takes to protect each other. This is a message everyone needs to learn, more specifically adults because although children argue a lot they tend to rekindle friendships quite easily. We could all learn a thing or two from the Toy Story movies.

7 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

I'm not going to try to sugar coat this and pretend that this movie isn't really weird, so let's get this out of the way: this movie is very strange. The fact that this is an odd movie doesn't mean that there isn't a message. Is it a coincidence that all of the rich and selfish children end up with misfortune and the one kid who is selfless, cares about his family, and follows the rules gets the prize in the end? I think not. This shows kids not to be selfish and bratty and that will get them further than demanding things.

Writing this has given me the sudden urge to go on a kid’s movie binge! These are really awesome movies sending out messages that everybody should learn and it’s great to get started as a kid. Do you love any of these movies? What kid movies with a message did I miss?
