I love watching movies. There's no set genre I prefer. I'll watch anything as long as it doesn't bore me to tears or sleep within the first half hour or so. As a result, my tastes are pretty eclectic – and so are my favorite characters from the movies. If an actor is good, I'll even go crazy for a character in a movie I don't even like! To show you what I mean, here are some of the random movie characters I adore and why!

1. Hannibal Lecter
Hannibal Lecter is no doubt the top random movie character I adore. I love him in the books, but the way Anthony Hopkins brings him to life just rocks my socks. I can't get enough. I own every film on DVD – even Hannibal Rising, but that doesn't count – and can't watch them enough, either. Hannibal in Hannibal is the only bright spot of the interpretation, but he'll always be his most diabolically sexy in Silence of the Lambs.
2. The Joker
The Joker is one of my favorite characters ever. I like the original, but I'll be honest, this is all about Heath Ledger's version. No matter what, in any movie, the Joker is always awesome, but Ledger brought him to life in a way I can't even begin to imagine. He was crazy out the box but not over the top, which made it more chilling and believable, and caused the Joker to replace the original Tommy Lee Jones TwoFace as my favorite Batman villain.
3. Dr. Evil
Dr. Evil is another top random movie character I adore. It's not even about Austin, man, it's all about the Evil. I don't even know why it is, but this cat just speaks to me. He's more bumbling than evil, sure, but even when he's trying to be diabolical, there's something so charming about it, you know? Actually, I ... I think I might be a little weird.
4. Holly Golightly
I love Holly in the book as well, but on the big screen, she really pops. With her mean reds and lack of furniture, there's something about Holly that speaks to me. There are things you can't really truly empathize with -- like eating breakfast outside of Tiffany's, or marrying someone solely for his money -- but at the same time, there's a little bit of Holly in all of us. At least there is in me.

5. Billy Madison
I know, I know. But look. I didn't watch SNL a whole lot when I was younger, so the previews for Billy Madison introduced me to Adam Sandler for the first time. I was 12. I promptly fell in love, and I'm still in love to this day. This childlike baffoon represents that love, as well as parts of my tweendom. I love this guy. Sometimes I still find myself making my shampoo fight with my conditioner in the bathroom. (FYI, SHAMPOO IS BETTER!)

6. Jim Stark
"If I had one day when I didn't have to be all confused and I didn't have to feel that I was ashamed of everything. If I felt that I belonged someplace. You know?" Jim Stark summed up so much with that one simple statement. I don't care how many people mimic James Dean screaming about being torn apart, that right there is why Jim is a random movie character I adore to death.
7. Baby Jane
I don't even know what to say about myself here. Honestly, Baby Jane is so vile. She's just vile! That's why I love her. I'm ashamed to say I didn't realize that Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? was a book as well. Now I can't get my hands on it, but I'm dying to, just to see if she was even worse on the written page.
8. Gunnery Sgt. Hartman
Full Metal Jacket is one of my favorite movies. Hartman is one of my favorite villains. This guy is just a bastard, you know? And R. Lee Ermey does it so well! He's one of the best character actors, but this is his shining glory. You've got to both respect and be deathly afraid of a guy who can drive someone to suicide in the head, you know?
9. Peewee Herman
I ... yeah, look. I like Tim Burton, Peewee's Big Adventure was my first taste of him, and I've been gaga for Peewee ever since. Even now that he's old and making a comeback, I still love him. Look, I don't understand it either. I think it's that Peter Pan syndrome. I probably should have said Peewee Pan instead, actually...
This isn't a complete list of the random movie characters I adore, because that list would never, ever end. However, these are my top favorites, the characters I will watch at any time. Who are some of your favorite movie characters, and why do you like them so much?
