7 Best Shows on TV Right Now ...

Cops never gets old. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, some whack job comes out of the woodwork and reminds you why this show is so great. It can be sad at times, but for the most part this is reality television at it’s absolute best.

My girlfriend loves this show and I’ll bet you do too. I’m not going to lie, I’ve never seen an episode, but I’ve seldom met a girl in the last few years that doesn’t love this show. I’m sure appeal is McFlurry or McDreamy or whatever the good doc’s name is, but for my medical kicks, see choice #2.

My own personal king of late night. I was a huge Conan fan for years until Leno gave him the shaft. During his seven or so month absence I had to watch something and I switched to Kimmel, and sorry Conan, I wont be back…at least not permanently. I still catch the odd episode now that Conan is back, but Jimmy Kimmel is my bread and butter. I love his interview style. He’ll say anything to anyone. He just seems like such an average guy and his sense of humor is definitely right on the money for my tastes. Probably the best part is his constant exploitation of YouTube’s most current sensation. Kimmel is king. Word.

Believe the hype about 30 Rock. If you love slightly zany comedy with a heavy dose of current and past pop culture, then 30 Rock is the show for you. I’ll admit that while he was on Saturday Night Live, I hated Tracy Morgan, but on this show he is comic gold. You never know what he’s going to say next and his ridiculous situations make the show for me. It’s nice to see that Alec Baldwin has finally found his calling with comedy too. I can’t say enough good things about this show.

I love this show. It makes me laugh out loud like a fool constantly. It follows three modern families: a traditional family, a gay family, and an older male/trophy wife family. The situations that they find themselves in crack me up, and it’s always nice to see good old Al Bundy back on television as the hard case father.

If you can ignore the repetitive cookie cutter aspect of this show, then you will love it. It revolved around Dr. House, who aside from being one of the most brilliant doctors in the country is also an egocentric, cantankerous, manipulative jerk…but in a good way. The best part of the show is watching how he handles all the relationships he’s built and seeing his staff dance around his ego while he toys with them. I know I’m making House sound like a bad guy, but I promise if you give him a chance you’ll see a little bit of yourself in him, as well.

This is THE show that I look forward to every week. I hate when it’s on break and I hate even more that this is Steve Carrell’s final season. I can’t wait to see how he makes his exit from Dunder Mifflin and I’d bet the farm that it’ll happen in a way that none of us saw coming. The supporting cast is so funny in and of itself that I have no doubt that it will be able to stand on its own even without its figurehead. It’s one of the rare show that can be side splitting and emotionally heartfelt at the same time. If this is a show you’ve been skipping over I’d recommend you Netflix it from season one on and enjoy Michael Scott’s farewell with the rest of us.

Some unconventional choices, I know, but to me honest there aren’t a lot of great shows on television these days. Mad that I didn’t include Desperate Housewives? If so, what else would you have included?
