1. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
This makes the top of my list for a number of reasons. Firstly, I’m a massive fan of Kate Hudson, and think she’s at her best in this movie. I also love the ‘Princess Sophia’ scene – if you’ve seen the film you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about, and if you haven’t, I promise not to spoil it for you! The classic tale of boy meets girl gets an unusual twist as it’s most definitely successful journalist Andie who wears the trousers in this movie; or is it? Feel-good flicks don’t come much better than this, and the soundtrack is great too!
2. Benny and Joon
This is one of my all-time favorite Johnny Depp movies, but it’s one a lot of people have never heard of! Johnny plays Sam, a quirky guy who’s obsessed with the style of Buster Keaton, and Mary Stuart Masterson plays Joon, a young woman with a mental illness who falls hopelessly in love with him. The result is a super-sweet love story that never fails to make me smile. Watch out for the dancing bread rolls scene; a classic piece of movie history!

3. Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the Black Pearl
Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Orlando Bloom looking lush, Keira Knightley pouting uncontrollably, plenty of pirates and a great soundtrack make this one of the best pirate films ever! A couple of hours spent watching the first Pirates of the Caribbean film always cheers me up, and if you’re still feeling low after the first one, there are 3 more to keep you busy (with another planned for 2016). A great way to spend your Saturday afternoon (rum optional).
4. 50 First Dates
This sweet film starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler tells the story of Henry Roth, who’s afraid of committing himself to just one woman. Then he meets Lucy and falls madly in love, but there’s just one problem – she has severe short-term memory loss, so forgets him by the next day! Funny, heart-warming and with a great cast, I love this film and it always makes me smile. Even if you’re not a huge fan of Adam Sandler films, check this one out as it has such a great plot.
5. Never Been Kissed
Another great Drew Barrymore film, this time also starring David Arquette and Michael Vartan. Follow Josie as she goes undercover as a reporter and returns to high school to research her latest story. This movie is full of laughs (as well as a few tears) and there are some really funny, laugh out loud moments. A great comedy with a romantic touch that won’t fail to cheer you up on gloomy days!

6. I Love You, Man
Starring Paul Rudd and Jason Segel, Paul Rudd plays Peter, who’s about to get married. He realizes he doesn’t have any guy-friends, so goes on a one-man mission (and several ‘man-dates’) to try and find some good friends, and hopefully a best man for his wedding! Even though it’s technically a romantic comedy, I actually got my boyfriend to enjoy this film, and everyone I’ve watched it with has loved it. It’s really funny, with a great supporting cast and some really crazy moments, mostly courtesy of the interaction between Rudd and Segel!
7. Horrible Bosses
We’ve all had them; bosses that were scary, horrible and just a complete nightmare to work for! Starring Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, Jason Sudeikis and a rather evil Jennifer Aniston, this is the story of three ordinary guys who plan to kill their horrible bosses! With a supporting cast including Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx, this film is guaranteed to make you laugh, and it’s a great choice to watch if you’re home alone, feeling a bit fed up.
So there you have it, 7 feel-good flicks that will brighten your day. I love watching romantic comedies and funny films when I’m home alone and everybody else is busy, as it’s a great way to pass the time and lift my mood! What are your favorite feel-good flicks or funny films that you love to watch?
