If you think that hand puppets only serve to entertain toddlers, then think again. In this video, you will see Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, Snape, and Voldemort come to life as hand puppets. Snape hears a mysterious ticking noise and the whole thing turns into a pretty funny and adorable musical. Oh, and be on the look out for Dumbledore; he does something strange and very out of character. According to the YouTube trends blog, this video is the most viewed Harry Potter parody video on the site. At the time I’m writing this post, the video has over 108 million views!

Basically, this video is a literal narration of the Harry Potter Deathly Hallows Trailer. It’s not as boring as it sounds, though. It is actually a work of genius! And if you take a short break from laughing, you will realize that you didn’t actually have to watch the two movies. You just had to watch this parodied trailer. You will never look at Harry Potter trailers – or any movie trailer, for that matter – the same way again after you watch this video.

4. Movie in Minutes – Harry Potter by Nigahiga

Ryan Higa, the YouTuber who owns the account where this video is posted, says their video is nothing like Harry Potter. And he’s right! Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone wasn’t this weird, funny, or this Asian (and I say all this in a positive light). To sum up this video: Hagrid making a sexual innuendo, some weird magic spell, gangster Dumbledore, and a freaky dancing lady. Don’t worry; I didn’t spoil it that much. You will still be surprised and you will definitely laugh. Click play whenever you’re ready!

5. Harry Potter and the Magic Wand by Davelehre

This video shows the problem with Hogwarts dorm rooms: there isn’t enough privacy. Harry learns this the hard way when people walk in on him practicing some… ehem, dirty magic. This Harry Potter parody is quite hilarious, but is undoubtedly risqué.

6. New Harry Potter Trailer: Rated Awesome #5 by Indymogul

Have you ever wondered what it would have been like if Dumbledore’s Army decided to use guns instead of wands against the Death Eaters? Or if Harry just pulled the trigger on Voldemort? Wonder no more because this explosive parody explores that musing. I know guns don’t exactly solve the problem of the horcruxes… but hey, you can reload guns, can’t you?

Here is another Harry Potter parody that gives you a look at how easy it would have been to put an end to Voldemort. It is short and straight to the point. Much like how it would have been if the magical folk decided to use some muggle technology.

8. Harry Podder: Say the Magic Word by Stodoe

The main premise of this video is: What happens when magic spells go wrong? Well, obviously some very funny things! Check out this cartoon by David Stodolny that has the right mix of cuteness, gore, and Harry Potter.

9. Harry Potter and the Magic of Puberty by PistolShrimps

We’ve all witnessed the actors and the book characters themselves grow up and mature as the series progressed. This video puts a surprising and kind of inappropriate twist on the growth and development of the characters we have grown to love. This parody is actually one of the many Harry Potter videos these young men from Norway have produced and distributed on their YouTube channel.

10. Harry Potter Retarded by Jordanime

Before anything else, I’m sure that the title of this Harry Potter parody is not meant to offend anyone. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, I have to say that this a really great take on the fourth Harry Potter film, Goblet of Fire. The parody points out the ridiculousness of teenage wizards being forced into life and death situations purely for sport. And the video, aside from being funny, manages to raise a good question: why don’t magical folks use modern technology?

11. Harry Potter Ruined!! by Barelypolitical

In this video, Frank, a witty and amusing wolf “puppet-thing”, tries to record a voice over for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 trailer. He tells the film like it is and there is no questioning what he says. Watch if you dare, but Frank has warned you: try not to get stung by the bees that are going to be attracted by the honey in his voice.

And there you have it, muggles and magical folk: the 11 Harry Potter parody videos that hopefully gave your abdominals a workout. They were really fun to research so I hope you had as much, if not more, fun watching them. And by the way, I admit that this is a sad time for Potter fans everywhere. After over a decade, the seven books have all been read, and the eight movies have all been watched. But the magic will still continue. Let us start here. I know that there are more Harry Potter parody videos out there. Please share them with me and with other Potter fans in the comments below.
