The Edge of Seventeen is a story about two best girlfriends that fall out with each other when one of them starts dating the other’s older brother. Hailee Steinfeld plays a troubled and lonely teenager going through issues everyone goes through at that particular age. 1 The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012)

This is a movie based on the book by Stephen Chbosky. The story follows a high-school boy, Charlie (Logan Lerman) struggling with depression, love, and other teenage issues. Things look up for him when two seniors invite him in their group and start hanging out with him. A very realistic and honest movie with important coming-of-age messages. The cast is incredible including wonderful actors like Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, and Nina Dobrev.

2 The Art of Getting by (2011)

The movie is about George (Freddie Highmore), a student at a Posh prep school in Manhattan. He’s happy reading philosophy books and doodling rather than going out and socializing. When he meets Sally (Emma Roberts) he slowly falls in love with her but he has competition. A coming of age entertaining movie for all youngsters.

3 The Breakfast Club (1985)

An all-time classic that tells the story of every high school with labels. A pretty girl, a geek, a jock, a criminal, and a basket case are all stuck in detention together. With hours to kill, they eventually end up talking to each other and open up about their unexpected lives, becoming good friends in the process. The characters in this movie are super relatable. If you have not watched this classic yet, you should definitely watch it.

4 Sixteen Candles (1984)

The story follows a teenage girl on the day of her sixteenth birthday. This is also the day her older sister is getting married which overshadows her sweet sixteen. If that wasn't enough, her day is ruined by embarrassing grandparents, a foreign student named Long Duk Dong and a nerd who is in love with her. The movie stars no other than the gorgeous Molly Ringwald, ‘80s Hollywood sweetheart. Other stars in the movie are Justin Henry and Paul Dooley. This movie is super relatable, we all have gone through that phase where we are chasing our high school crush hoping that he notices us. You will love this movie, it will remind you of your high school days.

5 The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

This movie is based on a popular teenage novel by John Green. It is a beautiful story about Hazel and Augustus, two teenage cancer patients who become very close, fall in love and go on a journey to Amsterdam to fulfill Hazel's 'cancer wish'. The bond that Hazel and Augustus share is special and unique. This movie will make you realize that you don't need to know a person for a long time to fall in love, you just need a special connection.

6 Juno (2007)

The story follows a young girl Juno (Ellen Page) who is in high school and finds out that she’s pregnant after her first time with her friend, Bleeker (Michael Cera). Now she has an important decision to make, should she keep the baby or not? Ellen Page has done an amazing job of playing Juno. This is a sweet movie sure to win your heart and has a great soundtrack.

7 The Spectacular Now (2013)

Sutter Keely (Miles Teller) is in high school and adored by everybody. He likes to live in the moment and has no plans for the future. When his girlfriend dumps him, he starts drinking and wakes up on a front lawn with Aimee Finecky (Shailene Woodley). Aimee is nothing like the girls Sutter has ever met. Despite being poles apart, the two become close and develop a special bond.

8 To All the Boys I’ve Loved before (2018)

Imagine writing a love letter to your crush you have never spoken to. Now imagine it being posted by accident. How stressful and embarrassing would that be? You might have already heard of the book with the same title which released a few years before the movie came out. This movie is about a girl, Laura Jean who writes letters to guys she has a crush on but never sends them. She hides them in a box but somehow all these letters get posted and trouble follows especially because one of them is her sister’s boyfriend. If you loved this movie, keep an eye out for the sequel that is due to be released in 2020.

9 Sierra Burgess is a Loser (2018)

An unattractive girl and the most popular girl in high school come together to win over their crushes. A Netflix movie worth watching.

10 The Kissing Booth (2018)

Another Netflix movie about high school drama. Elle (Joey King) is torn between two guys; her best friend and her first love, and it just so happens they are brothers. This is definitely one of those movies you can watch over and over and not get bored. A super cute and entertaining movie!

11 Easy a (2010)

A high school student (Emma Stone) takes advantage of the rumor mill when a rumor about her gets out, and uses it to make money and become popular. This is an incredible movie that was loved by a lot of people because of the sarcastic comedy and great performance by Emma Stone.

12 LOL (2012)

This film is a remake of a French film. The movie stars Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. It is about heartbreak, finding love and the emotional turmoil a teenager faces in the technology world.
