So my list of must-watch indie films isn’t particularly artsy, which a lot of lists of indie films are these days. Instead, I like to watch films that aren’t the most well known, but are still some of my favourites. Some of them are romantic, some of them are about life lessons, but what they all have in common is that they’re little gems that we all need to watch. So here are 7 must-watch indie films to see this weekend!

1. Wild Target, 2009
Starring Rupert Grint, Emily Blunt and Bill Nighy, that alone should convince you of why this should be on your list of must-watch indie films. It’s legitimately hilarious, and the cast could not be better. I love watching British films, and this one is right up there on my list of favourites. If you’re looking for just a fun film to laugh with, this one’s it!
2. Hanna, 2011
I love movies about girls who kick ass. Now if there’s a movie about a girl who kicks ass because she was raised by her father that way for basic survival, that’s even better. Plus when it stars Saoirse Ronan looking like she could seriously kick your ass, I’m all for it. And she uses cool weapons, hurrah!

3. Zombieland, 2009
Let’s just put it this way, what do you get when you put Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Jesse Eisenberg and zombies together? One awesome movie called Zombieland, that’s what. Oh and Bill Murray makes an appearance too. And you'll get a lot of cool tips on how to survive a zombie attack. Don't worry, they're all easy to remember.
4. Don Jon, 2013
Few movies have really been as fun as this one, and what makes it even more fun is JGL without a shirt on half the time. Indie movies focus a lot on the content, which means that the story line is absolutely incredible (most of the time, that is). In the case of this movie, luckily for us the story line is A+!
5. The House Bunny, 2008
Looking for a fun, girly movie to watch for a girls' night? Or maybe you’re just in the mood for something light hearted and fun that will make you laugh! This movie will definitely do that for you. Anna Faris will always make you laugh, even when she’s not trying to - that’s her charm!

6. The Host, 2006
So when I heard that Stephenie Meyer had another movie that was coming out based off a book, I rolled my eyes. Then a friend of mine mentioned this movie, and I decided to give it a watch. I was pleasantly surprised, because I promise you, it’s not something that you’ll expect!
7. Blue Crush, 2002
I really do love this movie. Kate Bosworth was awesome in this movie, and it gets me in the mood for summer every time. It also makes me want to go surfing, but the wonderful thing about this movie is that underneath all the cool surf scenes, you get to see what it’s like to be a little bit fearless.
There’s nothing quite like watching a movie that you’ve never heard of, and falling completely in love with it! It’s like you’ve uncovered a little cinematic gem that you want to share with the world! So tell me, what are some of your favourite indie movies?
