1. Movie 43 (January)

If you enjoyed the likes of Love Actually, Je T’aime Paris and Valentine’s Day, then this is definitely one of the must-see movies of 2013. Essentially a comedy, what sets this film apart is a stellar cast. Featuring ten overlapping stories, by ten different directors (expect Peter Farrelly, Griffin Dunne and a directorial turn by Elizabeth Banks), the cast includes – to name a few - Richard Gere, Uma Thurman, Naomi Watts, Halle Berry and – probably my two favourite actresses ever – Emma Stone and Kate Winslet. So, basically, it must be good, right?

2. Warm Bodies (February)

Based on the best-selling book by Isaac Marion, the zombie R (played by Nicholas Hoult) falls for teenager Julie Grigio after eating the brains of her friend. The film explores the effect their relationship has on the zombie world – and the remaining human population.

3. Oz: the Great and Powerful (March)

Is it just me, or does it feel like this film has been in the making for years? The Wizard of Oz prequel explores the story of the Wizard, played by James Franco. Starting out as Oscar Diggs the circus magician, he navigates his way through the world of Oz, alongside the three witches – played by Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams.

4. Caesar Must Die (March)

Italian directors the Tavianis have already won the Golden Bear for this film – a movie that looks at the preparation for a stage performance of ‘Julius Caesar’ by maximum security prison inmates. You’re left wondering what’s part of the production; and what’s reality.

5. Carrie (April)

As one of the more intriguing Hollywood remakes of 2013, Carrie sees Chloë Grace Moretz take the title role. Carrie is one of the most enduring horror films of all time – so I can’t wait to see what the 2013 version will hold.

6. Wadjda (April)

This film has already received substantial press – as the first film by a female director in Saudi Arabia. It follows the story of a ten-year-old girl determined to challenge convention; a film with a significance that will last long past the end credits.

7. The Great Gatsby (May)

At last! Originally intended to be released last year, 2013 will finally see the release of Baz Luhrmann’s sumptuous adaptation of Fitzgerald’s novel – with Carey Mulligan and Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead roles.

8. Gravity (October)

Described as ‘five years ahead of it’s time’ by James Cameron and featuring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock, this is one sci-fi epic you should probably see. It traces the story of two astronauts stuck in space and will be shot in the same style as Cuarón’s ‘Children Of Men.’

9. The Hobbit / the Hunger Games (December)

Okay, so these are pretty self-explanatory – two of this year’s biggest franchises release their second instalments; the end of the year will see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire come to our screens.
