There are so many movies that are so amazing you just have to have them on your list of movies you should watch before you die . They're the kind of movies you don't forget because they were so memorable, elicited emotion, were groundbreaking, and just plain phenomenal. They're the kind of movies that you show your kids/will show your kids, and eventually they pass it on to theirs. Well, here's some of what’s on my list of extraordinary movies you should watch before you die!

1. Star Wars
Star Wars was such an amazing movie and first on my list of movies you should watch before you die. It was one of the first sci-fi movies to cross genres and become wildly popular. It was also the first of its kind to have stellar props, sets, costume designs, special effects, an excellent cast and of course, a compelling story. It has such a huge impact in pop culture, and you would totally be out of the loop if you haven't seen it yet. If you want to finally understand those "Luke, I am your father" or "These aren't the droids you're looking for" jokes, then see this amazing film!
2. Titanic
Oh, Titanic. So tragic, yet so endearing. It was a love story laced with tragedy that moved me to tears. Jack, played by the gorgeous Leonardo DiCaprio, was charming and charismatic, while Kate Winslet was just as lovely. The sets and the score were impeccable as well. To date, it is one of the top most grossing films in the U.S. ever. Not to mention, Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On" is such a beautiful song, and one of the most memorable theme songs in movies today. So if you haven't seen it, get to it, ladies!
3. Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club is an '80s classic about a group of teens who all come from different cliques. It's so great because each character had so much more depth than what was perceived at first. When you watch it, you get the feeling of sincerity and that you can relate to them as young adults or teenagers. It's one of my favorite '80s movies, and it's still current today. Movies and shows still copy or pay homage to this plot/story on a regular basis. The Breakfast Club is truly timeless. And if you want to keep with the times, watch it now! I mean, right now!
4. The Terminator
Way back when, when Arnold wasn't busy "governating," he was a pretty good actor. He starred in this gem, and the quote “I’ll be back” in his robotic, Austrian accent was so memorable, iconic even, that it’s quite possible everyone knows the line around the globe! The Terminator was just plain fun and the apocalyptic aspect mixed with robots is so cool too. It's such a classic, and who wants to miss out on those?!
5. Life of Pi
Visually, Life of Pi is one of my favorite movies to date. It is breathtaking really. Based on the novel by Yann Martel, it follows the story of Pi, a boy interested in the reasoning in many different religions, who ends up stranded on a boat with a feisty yet lovable tiger named Richard Parker. It sounds odd, but Pi’s character is courageous, endearing, smart, and a survivor. It’s a great film, adapted from a great book. You can’t go wrong with the superb visual effects, an excellent story and amazing acting.
6. The Lord of the Rings
The Lord of the Rings trilogy is one of those series you just can’t continue life without watching. It’s just that important. At first, I was hesitant to see it, thinking it was a wee bit too nerdy for my blood. But, to my surprise, it became one of my favorite movie series! The CGI and special effects were amazingggg (extra Gs intended), and the story was so well written. The actors all did such an amazing job and required an extreme amount of dedication and patience. It took them nearly a decade (8 years) to make the trilogy. Well worth the time too. Frodo, Legolas, Gandalf, Sam, Aragorn, and Gollum will not soon be forgotten.
7. The Matrix
The Matrix was a groundbreaking film that changed the way movies were made soon after for so many years to come. The CGI used in The Matrix was never seen before and was pure innovation. The Matrix concept was genius as well. The idea that the life we lead is merely a facade is so interesting and makes you wonder what is real and what’s not. The main characters are all so suave, and all-knowing. Plus, they had cool sunglasses and trench coats. Trend Alert! Anyway, this film is one of kind and you definitely have to watch it while you can. Or you can take the red pill and live without this awesomeness. Your choice, ladies!
8. Mean Girls
Mean Girls is great. It’s funny, it’s sassy, it’s real, and relatable. As an added bonus, you get to see Lindsay Lohan while she was still freckled, redheaded, wholesome and beautiful. Mean Girls was marvelous because it showed the way in which girls in high school act like friends, but secretly talk about you behind your back. (Can you say frenemies?) Or how popular girls like Regina, played perfectly by the beautiful Rachel McAdams, use other people to get what they want. They played out the stereotypes perfectly. It has such funny quotes too. Definitely one of the movies I like to pop in every once in a while.
9. The Dark Knight
itunes.apple.com
The Dark Knight is one of the best superhero movies of all time in my opinion. While the Batman movies before were campy or just plain corny, this one was smooth, thought-out, thought-provoking and plain amazing. Heath Ledger did such a great job as the Joker. It’s a role that no one could ever forget. I don’t think anyone else could’ve pulled it off with such style. The plot, the writing, the acting, the action packed scenes, were all so well done. It was exactly what I wanted out of a superhero movie, especially one as cool as Batman. You’ve got to see what all the fuss is about, if you haven’t already!
10. The Intouchables
itunes.apple.com
I never expected to fall in love with this movie after watching it in my french class, because it always seems like schools pick the most unentertaining movies to show in class. So I was definitely surprised to be so engaged in an uplifting comedy about a friendship between a handicap millionaire and his ex-con caretaker. It seems like Phillipe and Driss have nothing in common, they come from different backgrounds, have different interests and deal with different problems. However the Intouchables depicts this unlikely friendship with a considerable level of honesty and humor. It is a charming and heartwarming comedy that should be seen by all eyes.
11. Now You See Me
Now You See Me revolves around a team of the world's greatest illusionists "The Four Horsemen" who are hunted by the FBI squad, for becoming a modern version of Robin Hood. They mastermind a series of plans against corrupt leaders, by using their stolen money and showering their audiences with it. They are clever, fast, observant and don't forget they have magic on their side. It is a delightful, original and entertaining movie that is guaranteed to blow your mind. So if you are looking for entertainment and don't mind being deceived, get ready for the greatest magic show you've seen to date.
12. The Proposal
When you are a difficult and a demanding boss, you find that you can make your workers do anything even if it means forcing one of them to marry you so you don't have to get deported, or at least that's what Sandra Bullock's character in The Proposal thinks. This romantic comedy is a little bit cliched and improbable but yet it is refreshing and heartwarming. It is a perfect chick flick that isn't too sappy but still entertaining and funny. It's exactly what you would want from a romantic comedy, so don't expect anything less.
13. Flipped
This movie captures our long life dilemma of unrequited love. It seems like once you fall for someone, they never return your feelings but once you get over them, they sense it and flip their feelings. So if you ever had the chance to experience this confusing concept you would probably relate to the charming and clever love story of two second-graders, Bryce and Juli. It's a well-done young adult story with a beautiful ending for people of all ages to enjoy!
14. Pitch Perfect
You have probably been feeling very left out if you have yet to watch Pitch Perfect, because I don't think I have ever seen a movie that has been referenced so much all over the world wide web and quoted on daily basis. The plot line of this movie revolves around Beca, an independent young woman who is more of a misfit at her new college. However she finds herself somehow muscled into a singing group with girls who she has nothing in common with except their singing. Pitch Perfect is a very likable movie that is funny, charming and engaging. It's definitely something that you shouldn't miss.
15. Up!
With time we grow out of a lot of things but that doesn't mean that we still can't enjoy a quality cartoon, especially if it has substance, heart and humor like Up. And no, this movie is not just about an old grandpa tying balloons to a house and flying away. There is a really heart warming and tear jerking plot that every age group can appreciate. It is an exquisite movie that is permeated with an incredible sense of discovery, love and friendship. It's probably the best Pixar movie up to date and I hope that it is passed down from generation to generation.
Whether you’re a rom-com kind of girl, or you’re more of a thriller type gal, these movies are classics in the movie industry. They are some of the most amazing films that you can watch. If they're not on your list of movies you should watch before you die now, then consider adding them! I love them, and if you give them a chance, I’m sure you will too. What are the movies you’d put on a list of movies you should watch before you die?
