Even if you don’t like dance, you are bound to appreciate these best dances from So You Think You Can Dance. It is such an incredible show that features the best dancers and choreographers from around the world. While everyone has their own personal favorites, in my opinion, these are the best dances from So You Think You Can Dance.

1. Fix You
I put this at the top of the best dances from So You Think You Can Dance because I have never been able to watch this dance without getting the chills. Perfectly choreographed by Travis Wall and executed flawlessly by Robert and Allison, this dance is a fan favorite. It is about a son who is helping his mom in her battle against breast cancer. Travis took inspiration from his relationship with his mother and that raw emotion was really translated by Robert and Allison. Not to mention this song is absolutely beautiful.
2. The Garden
Sonya Tayeh is a So You Think You Can Dance legend, and this song was what put her on the map. It was the first time she choreographed for the show and it left a lasting impression. The song was twisted, which fit Sonya’s personality perfectly, and the dance was equally creepy, yet incredibly sexy. Mark and Courtney could not have been a better duo for this dance. The outcome is the reason this is one of the best dances from So You Think You Can Dance.
3. Gravity
Similar to Fix You, Gravity is a song about a battle. But in this Mia Michaels' routine, Kayla is battling addiction, symbolized by Kupono. The emotion in this dance is so raw it leaves you breathless. You can just feel Kayla’s struggle to overcome addiction. This kind of dance goes beyond the moves and is pure artistry.
4. Hallelujah
Alex Wong was one of the most incredible dancers to ever grace the So You Think You Can Dance stage and his pairing with All Star Allison was absolutely incredible. They are so in sync for the entire dance. Mia Michaels never fails to create dances that show true emotion and Hallelujah was no exception. And the acoustic version of the Jeff Buckley song is a hauntingly beautiful partner to the dance.
5. Hip Hip Chin Chin
Most of my favorite dances are contemporary or jazz, but this Samba was so smoking hot it was impossible to not love it. Danny and Lacey are such a steamy couple and this dance has too much sex appeal to be allowed on television. I just wish I could move my hips like this.
6. How It Ends
I am always a fan of Travis Wall’s dances but when he worked with two of my favorite SYTCD men, Kent and Neil, I was sold. This dance is about a guy who is stabbed in the back by his best friend. You can see the pain in Kent’s eyes when his best friend betrays him. And I have never seen two men dance so beautifully together.
7. Get out of Your Mind
When Alex Wong was told to do a hip-hop dance with All Star Twitch, everyone was a bit nervous and skeptical. They never in a million years thought it would be so outstanding. Alex turned out to be so incredibly versatile in all styles. The only thing better than this Nappy Tabs routine is the one Ellen DeGerneres did.
8. Heaven is a Place on Earth
Kathryn was one of my favorite girl dancers and when she paired with Robert to take on a Stacey Tookey contemporary piece, it was just beautiful. It was about a couple who had to say their goodbyes before one of them leaves for war. It is such an emotional dance that expresses how so many people in this country have felt. And the twist at the end makes it that much better.
9. My Chick Bad
Any dance with Twitch is amazing, but his partnering with Lauren was so badass. Who knew a little white girl had so much swag? And that part where she grabs her ankles and rolls across the stage - it’s crazy. She can easily hold her own against All Star Twitch in this Nappy Tabs routine.
10. The Lovecats
I have always loved dances with crazy and unique characters so it is only natural that I love this dance. You would never know that this sexy suave dance is actually a hip-hop routine from Nappy Tabs. I don’t know what it is about this dance that has made it stick in my head but I am a fan. Amelia and Will were such fun characters to watch and I was always a fan of them. And I had a not so secret crush on Will so that helps.
11. Puttin' on the Ritz
So this is technically a group routine, but I am obsessed with it. It was the first time seeing the top 20 dance together and it gave you a glimpse in to the backstage of the studio. The best part was how it included some of our favorite judges and choreographers. Who wouldn’t want to watch Nigel do hip hop or Mary Murphy and Jason Gilkinson dance together. Not to mention Travis Wall looks fierce in a fur vest.
So You Think You Can Dance has always been one of my favorite shows because there is such a variety of dances and choreographers. They offer something for everyone and can make you laugh and cry all in the same show. What did you think of these best dances from So You Think You Can Dance? What are some of your personal favorite dances? What do you think makes this show so entertaining?
