Funny Sports Movies are some of my favorites. I don't know why because I've never been a sporty girl, except when it comes to street hockey and that's mostly because, in high school, I always enjoyed beating up my guy friends with my hockey stick. There are a ton of really funny sports movies, some of which teach a message, of course, but many of which are just hilarious for the sake of it. From kids movies to adult flicks, here's a great list of the top funny sports movies you'll ever see!

1. Dodgeball: a True Underdog Story
A lot of funny sports movies are underdog stories, but that obviously doesn't mean they're serious. I love this movie. The cast is just perfection: Vince Vaughn, on whom I have an inexplicable crush; Benn Stiller; Justin Long; Stephen Root; and Christine Taylor. It's like Zoolander with balls.
2. A League of Their Own
This made it onto my list of inspiring movies as well, but I have to use it twice. In addition to being really important and relevant, this movie is just hilarious. Jon Lovitz alone helps make it hysterical, but it's really Tom Hanks as Jimmy Dugan and his interaction with all his Peaches that does it for me. I swear he makes chewing tobacco look sexy. Does that make me weird? (P.S. Always remember: “There's no crying in baseball!”)

3. Caddyshack
If you want to laugh at golf, here you go. Of all the funny sports movies you will ever see, this is one of the funniest. With Bill Murray, it couldn't be anything else. This makes the top of any list, and even today, people have Caddyshack parties where they dress up as their favorite characters and quote from the movie's many iconic lines.
4. Major League
I just … I love this movie. The sequel isn't awful, the third one is just a massive piece of dreck, but this one … man. I fell in love with Charlie Sheen when this first came out. I was just a little bit of a girl, but I couldn't resist that wonderfully shaved mullet-esque 'do. Tom Berenger is amazing, the coach is incredible, and Corbin Bernsen was a fantastic villain. And did I mention that Charlie Sheen was actually, really, super funny?
5. The Waterboy
Adam Sandler has actually starred in a lot of funny sports movies – Happy Gilmore and The Longest Yard come to mind – but this will always be my favorite because I love Bobby Boucher. However, Kathy Bates as his mom and Henry Winkler as his coach help round out this film and make it truly funny. Plus Bobby's pig squealing noises on the field are … well, they're something else.

6. The Bad News Bears
There are a lot of funny kid-themed baseball movies – The Sandlot (did anyone else suffer from a huge crush on Mike Vitar?), Angels in the Outfield, Little Big League, and, of course, Rookie of the Year – but nothing beats the original Bad News Bears, with crusty Walter Mathau and spunky, adorable Tatum O'Neal. Seriously, don't ever see the remake. This one is just tops.
7. Kingpin
Bowling, as a sport? Yes, because Kingpin is one of my favorite funny sports movies ever. Hey. Bill Murray. The film is ludicrous, but Murray combined with Woody Harrelson as a professional bowler who loses his hand in a ball return and Randy Quaid as an Amish bowling prodigy is just … it's phenomenal. Roy Munson is one of the best characters ever.
8. White Men Can't Jump
Speaking of which, his turn in White Men Can't Jump – where he's also a total hustler – is sheer brilliance. If you want a good plot, I must, in good conscience, advise this over Kingpin. They're both great, but this does have a really wonderful story to it, too. Pairing Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes is comedy gold. And I don't know about you, but this is also where I fell in love with Rosie Perez. Am I the only one who thinks her accent is cute?
9. The Mighty Ducks
I was a '90s kid, so it's sort of a rule that The Might Ducks has to end up on my list of funny sports movies. It was an underdog story too, but it really was funny. This film made me fall in love with Emilio Estevez, and also turned me into a fan of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks. I think I still have a jersey somewhere...
As you can see, there are funny sports movies for just about every sport – even golf! Actually, I've tried to find sports films that incorporate the most popular sports, just to keep things on an even keel. They might not be realistic and some of them even border of ludicrous. Some funny sports movies have a definite underdog theme, while others are just filled with madcap comedy. What are your favorite funny sports movies – and your favorite serious, dramatic ones?
