1. The Avengers: Age of Ultron
The sequel to the first Avengers movie promises to bring back the old cast and include some new faces for the characters of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver as villains to mix things up. Together the Earth’s mightiest heroes will battle against the sentient robot known as Ultron in order to save the planet from destruction. With such a huge comic fan base supporting this movie, it is no wonder that this is already one of the most anticipated movies of 2015.

2. Fast and the Furious 7
Fast and the Furious is one of the most critically acclaimed and financially successful franchises out there, and even after 6 movies fans are asking for more! The plot of the seventh installment of the series will revolve around Ian Shaw as he seeks revenge against Dominic Toretto and his crew for the death of his brother. With the sudden death of Paul Walker, it is going to be interesting to see how the filming crew went around the obstacle and still managed to retire his character instead of killing him off.

3. Fifty Shades of Grey
The release date of the very hotly debated film is actually not too far into the future! The story of Christian Grey and his submissive sexual slave Anastasia Steele, based on the erotic romance novel by E.L. James, will hit the theaters early in the year. Question is, just how explicit will the content of the movie be?

4. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2
The film adaptation of the second half of Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins will pick up where the last film left off and portray Katniss Everdeen as the leader of an all-out revolution against the Capitol, with District 13 right by her side. As a major fan of the books, I cannot contain my excitement to see the action-packed conclusion to the Hunger Games franchise!

5. Pitch Perfect 2
The successful musical comedy that won the hearts of millions back in 2012 will have a sequel, packed with big performances and of course juicy drama! This time around the Bellas will be graduating seniors instead of incoming freshmen, so we will get to see the more mature and grown up version of the characters!

6. Fantastic Four
Frankly, I wasn’t that impressed with the previous Fantastic Four films. They lacked the suspense, witty humor and substantial plot I am used to seeing in superhero films. However, anything that has to do with Marvel, I am willing to give another chance and so far the cast looks promising! The third reboot of the American superhero film will center around four astronauts who gain superpowers after being exposed to cosmic radiation.
Release Date: June 19, 2015
7. Star Wars: Episode VII
I think the biggest movie of the year will surely be the return of Star Wars to the big screen. While there has been very little confirmation on what to expect from the movie, Abrams, the director of the movie, has confirmed that the film will not be based on the Expanded Universe material, but rather the notes and story ideas from George Lucas, and the plot is set 30 years after the Return of Jedi. Nonetheless, this should be something worth seeing!

It seems like 2015 is an exciting year when it comes to popular movie releases. Let’s just hope our high expectations are satisfied! Which of these movies are you most excited to see once they hit the theaters?
