Restricting the list of most anticipated movies of 2014 to only 7 was super tough! There are so many movies I’m excited to see. However, there are only a handful that actually have a trailer ready. So, I decided to focus on those. These are some of the most anticipated movies of 2014.

1. Divergent
Divergent (based on the best-selling series), out March 21st, is one of the most anticipated movies of 2014. Shailene Woodley is set as the lead and I’m sure she won’t disappoint. If you didn’t already know, the story is set a few hundred years in the future. It’s a bit hard to describe the plot but the trailer sums it up nicely so take a look! I think it’s the perfect time to climb the “Divergent” bandwagon if you haven’t already and read the series before the movie’s out!
2. Maleficent
Judge me, but I am so excited for this movie. It’s a modern take on “Sleeping Beauty” but from the villain’s perspective. Don’t you want to know what drove Maleficent to curse Princess Aurora? Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are set as the leads and I think they’re both so fantastic. The movie is set to come out May 30th, so keep a look out for that. I’m so excited for this movie, even if it's a Disney production!

3. Vampire Academy
Vampire Academy, out Feb 14th, is also based on a best-selling series! You might be thinking “it’s just another Twilight,” but you’re wrong! The V.A books are full of witty remarks that make you laugh and want to attend their school all at the same time. I think the trailer really did a good job in capturing all the must-see moments of the film! I’m super excited to see Modern Family’s Sarah Hyland and Shameless’ Cameron Monaghan on the big screen!
4. Captain America: the Winter Soldier
Any chance to see Chris Evans on the big screen is a good one. He returns with Captain America (out April 4), where Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and battles a new threat from old history: the Soviet agent known as the Winter Soldier. Scarlett Johansson will also be joining him on the big-screen (yay!). I love seeing Captain America and the Black Widow work together. This is definitely going to be an interesting watch!
5. X-Men: Days of Future past
Need your J.Law fix? Be sure to watch her (alongside many other talented actors) in X-Men: Days of Future Past! The movie is set to release May 23rd. The X-Men send Wolverine to the past in a desperate attempt to change history and prevent an event that results in doom for both humans and mutants. I’m so excited for this film because I absolutely love the casting of it!

6. Frankenstein
This is another movie I can’t wait to watch. It’s set to premiere on Jan. 24! Frankenstein’s creature finds himself caught in an all-out centuries' old war between two immortal clans. Sounds pretty intense, right? I’m also excited to see Yvonne Strahovski on the big screen (she was my fave on Showtime’s Dexter series!).
7. The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Amazing Spider-Man (out May 2) features my favorite couple on the big screen. Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield have the best on-screen chemistry and it’s so exciting to watch them work together. The trailer for the movie isn’t out just yet but we did get a preview that premiered at SDCC. It looks super intense and if it’s as good as the first movie, I’ll be pleased. I’m so excited to see this movie!
That sums up the list of most anticipated movies of 2014! Like I said before, I tried to focus only on the ones with trailers already available! There are SO many movies coming out next year (without trailers), such as 22 Jump Street, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Pt. 1, The Fault in Our Stars, etc. I wish they had trailers already! What movie do you think should’ve made the list?
