1. Gone with the Wind
Gone with the Wind is my all-time favorite movie. It’s long, but you won’t be sorry you took the time to watch, and it tops my list of movies that will change your life. This movie tells the tale of a family during the Civil War. They are Southerners living on a plantation with slaves and the movie takes you through the major life changes that occur when war interrupts their lifestyle and changes everything they know. You’ll never think about slavery or the Civil War quite the same way again.
2. Planet of the Apes
I’m talking about the new one here. Besides starring Mark Wahlberg, the movie is thought provoking and will make you think about whether evolution really exists and how our lives could be so different if our genes were just a bit simpler and we were more like primates. The story will suck you in and entertain you, but it won’t leave you for days or weeks.
Frequently asked questions
3. Titanic
Yes, it’s a love story, but you’ll get so much more out of it. It might be hard to comprehend the fear and utter unbelief that the sinking of the Titanic produced. Can you even imagine something of that scale happening right in front of your eyes? The movie will give you a connection to the story and you’ll understand that the night the ship sank was so much more than loss of life and the sinking of a so-called unsinkable ship. Families were torn apart by the ship’s sinking and the movie will help you see those people as humans and you’ll definitely be emotional before it’s over.
4. Saving Private Ryan
If you’re fascinated by World War II, then this is the movie for you. So many accounts of the battles gloss over the true facts and the true danger the soldiers faced. This movie takes you up close and personal with the soldiers who fought and the horrors they faced. I can’t promise complete accuracy, but the critics say it’s a fairly good representation of what went on during the war.
5. Anchorman
If quoting movies is your idea of humor, then Anchorman is sure to give you plenty of fodder. It’s talked about so often, you can’t really get away with not watching it. Sure, it’s never going to go down in history as a classic, but it’s funny and you’re going to laugh through the whole movie. This is definitely one to watch when you’re feeling down in the dumps. That’s nothing Will Ferrell can’t take care of!

6. The Butterfly Effect
Do you ever wonder what life would be like if one simple thing had or hadn’t happened? This movie will leave you looking at your entire existence in a new way. You’ll start to wonder how each of your actions, small or large, affect the world as a whole and whether your choices can change the world. Just don’t over analyze the movie, or you could be paralyzed with indecision at any dilemma.
7. The Wizard of Oz
It’s a classic! The special effects and costumes were far beyond their years and the story is great for kids and adults. If it seems that everyone except you has seen the Wizard of Oz, it’s time to take a break from your routine and sit down with some popcorn. You’ll love this movie and you’ll feel good after you watch it.
