Olivia

There are so many movies out there that claim to be scary, but are actually more laughable than frightening. If you are looking for some genuinely scary movies, then check out some of these!

Saw

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

Saw is one of my favorite scary movies. It is about a man called Jigsaw who realizes how much his life is worth once he is diagnosed with cancer. His life mission is to teach others to cherish their lives; but he does so in the sickest manner possible - putting them in situations where they have to suffer immense pain to live, or they can die. While the Saw series is extremely sick, these movies will keep you on the edge of your seat and make you wonder what you would do if you were placed in some of these situations.

The Orphan

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

The Orphan is an extremely creepy movie about a family who decides to adopt an older child after losing a baby. However, the child, Esther, seems to attract bad luck. After a series of unfortunate events, suspicion begins to arise that Esther may not be the sweet child she claims to be. When her new mother calls the orphanage Esther is supposedly from and they don't have a record of her ever being there, the movie takes a surprising twist you won't see coming!

3

Halloween

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

One of the scariest movies I've ever seen is Halloween. Imagine being stalked by someone who escaped from an insane asylum and is out to kill you, for seemingly no reason. This movie keeps me on the edge of my seat no matter how many times I watch it!

4

The Exorcist

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

The first time I saw The Exorcist, I was eight and thoroughly scared. The movie is about a girl who is possessed by a demon. She speaks in tongues, twists her body in ways that are unimaginable, and levitates. While I was scared by this movie, what sealed the deal for me was when I saw the finally commentary that this is based on a true story. Good luck sleeping after this movie!

5

House at the End of the Street

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

The House at the End of the Street is a fairly new horror flick that stars Jennifer Lawrence. This movie is about a mother and daughter that move next door to a house of horrors. The parents in the house had been murdered by their daughter, and only their son survived. This movie will keep you on the edge of your seat as there is a massive twist that you won't see coming!

Human Centipede

On itunes at: itunes.apple.com

Human Centipede follows two friends who wind up in the hands of a sadistic ex-Nazi. This man attempts to physically attach the two girls to a third person so that they will be one entity. Could you imagine waking up and being attached to two other people, to resemble a centipede? This movie will ingrain disturbing images in your mind that will likely not leave, so watch with care!

Last House on the Left

On iTunes at: itunes.apple.com

The Last House on the Left is about a girl and her friend who wind up in bad company. A group of people murder the one girl and attempt to murder the other, but she escapes. When the girl makes it back to her house, it turns out her parents had invited her attempted murderers to stay in their house for the night and weather out the storm. When the parents realize what has happened, they take measures into their own hands and exemplify the meaning of revenge. This movie had me sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

@raqcity, I agree and The Conjuring is really scary

Where's the conjuring ,insidious ,insidious2,sinister

I bought the movie, The orphan for me and 5 friends to watch, thought we would enjoy it... Worst and unscariest film ever, we were all laughing at it! Was a disappointment :(

The grave encounters

Movies that leave you paranoid in real life are the scariest like The Last House on the Left! I will NEVER go near a door or window after dusk. Nobody will know I'm home!

O' Really... :)

Silence of the Lambs is a truly terrifying movie if you really pay attention to the story instead of the gory bits. Human Centipede was absolutely abysmal!
