These Movies Will Cheer You up when Love Has You down ...

When Harry Met Sally is the best pick-me-up movie. Nora Ephron was so great at taking normal, every day things, like walking through a department, and turning them into events that are suddenly full of life and romantic, and that is on full display in When Harry Met Sally. If you’re looking for something light and airy to pick you up, you can’t wrong with this movie.

You’ve Got Mail falls into that same category of movies that turn ordinary events into lovely movie moments, especially considering it has the same leading lady as When Harry Met Sally and was written and directed by Nora Ephron. Take all of your favorite parts of the different seasons, and they’re exemplified in an organic way in this movie. Even more than that, though, the concept of this movie is so romantic. In the 90s, falling in love online was foreign and romantic. Now it’s almost expected. Travel back to a simpler time!

If your love life has let you down to the point that you’re not in the mood to deal with a love story, Under the Tuscan Sun is the perfect movie for you. Don’t we all wish that we could escape to Italy and renovate a house in Tuscany? It’s the dream, and while we can’t all live it firsthand, that doesn’t mean that we can’t watch it in this movie!

I love this movie in all of its simplicity. It feels like you’re watching real life just happen (even though I don’t think most of us know many painted street performers) to two people. We watch them figure their own lives out and then fall in love, and sometimes, that’s just exactly the escape we need from our own lives!

Nancy Meyers is the queen of making movies look just as beautiful as the scripts she’s written are, and that’s perfectly depicted in The Holiday. Every aspect of this movie is absolutely lovely. I am positive that you’ll have a smile on your face after you finish this movie; whether it’s the first time you’ve seen it or the hundredth.

Isn’t there something so comforting about going back to your years of innocence and childhood? You can do that with 13 Going on 30, and watch an adorable romantic comedy at the same time. There are few things cuter than Jenna and Matty falling in love over Razzles. Although this movie can give you too much nostalgia at points (I’m talking about adult Jenna going to her parents’ house and crying over her lost childhood) that doesn’t mean that it won’t lift your spirits and put you in a better mood!

Leave it Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis to take a movie that’s been done a million times and turn it into one that you want to watch every time you’re in a funk. While the plot’s been done before, this script and the main characters are so fun and charming that it’s sure to take you out of your bad mood in no time at all!
